Hello to all members, passers-by, curious onlookers, and shy lurkers, and welcome to our regular daily check-in post. Just leave a comment below to let us know how your current projects are progressing, or even if they're not.

Checking in is NOT compulsory, check in as often or as seldom as you want, this community isn't about pressure it's about encouragement, motivation, and support. Crafting is meant to be fun, and what's more fun than sharing achievements and seeing the wonderful things everyone else is creating?

There may also occasionally be questions, but again you don't have to answer them, they're just a way of getting to know each other a bit better.

No knitting today, too tired. I went into town this morning to the craft fair in the square... used to be, before the pandemic, we'd get upwards of 20 vendors. Today there were 4. I swear my local council isn't even bothering to try by advertising these events where craftspeople might see.

I had to do some shopping in town anyway, although I couldn't get everything I wanted, and I didn't get to all the charity shops. One I go to regularly closed for good yesterday, so that sucked. I did go to a new shop that sells pretty much everything and checked out their craft section. Lots pf expensive yarn, which I resolutely didn't buy. I did get a pack of pastel A4 card and two packs of plain white card blanks.

I hit the jackpot at one charity shop though, found a Crafter's Companion Ultimate Pro, only a couple of minor bits missing, one of the scoring tools, the clip that holds it closed, and one of the little pegs used in tying bows. The other two were there, and you only really need two anyway, so that's not a problem There were even some extra templates for scoring card in pretty patterns, so I got half a dozen of those as well. Now I should be able to easily make card blanks, envelopes, and boxes of various sizes and shapes! I just need to read the instruction book and watch some videos on youtube...

Oh, that's great! I used to eye with one of those (or a similar one anyway) a few years ago, but it was so unreasonably expensive that I decided not to buy it. It wasn't essential to my crafting life - although I must admit that I was tempted. *g*

It only cost me £10, so I was happy. Extra for the other templates, or course, but it will be so useful for my card making, especially since I have some cards that I don't have envelopes for.

Shame about the craft fair. I’m impressed with your charity shop finds, mind you I’m impressed they have crafting sections! Only one of ours has one and it tends to have lots of knitting needles, very dated sewing or knitting patterns and not much else. I shall have to ask you which are the good ones for the next time I visit my uncle.

Well, the new shop isn't a charity shop, it's replaced Wilkinson's and seems to have a similar variety of stock, except WAY more yarn and other crafty stuff than Wilko ever had.

I was lucky with the charity shop I got the Crafter's Companion at though. You never know what might turn up, there's often nothing, but I was clearly early enough to snap up what I did before anyone else could. There are still quite a few charity shops despite losing one... 8, I think. Worth checking out next time you're in the area.

Trying to, but it was exhausting, I ended up so loaded with bags. Luckily I could shove everything in the boot of my car before going to the supermarket, but it took me half an hour to unpack and put everything away when I got home.

Wow! That does sound like a really good find! Way to resist buying pricey yarn. Sorry the craft square was so lame...

I am very pleased, especially as the instruction book is still with it. There are so many things I can do!

The yarn was nice, but not at those prices, and I don't need more anyway.

Very minor things today. I've made one little toilet roll basket, and it turned out as easy as the YouTube video promised, which isn't always the case. So that project is a go. I also tried my idea about a pincushion-in-a-box, which failed miserably. Sometimes one could really use a working template, instead of just trying to make something up. So that's a no-go. Too bad, I liked the idea, but this seems to be an unlucky stretch right now as projects go.

Perhaps you'll have another brainwave regarding the pincushions. At least the egg baskets are easy to do.

The idea was to make the pincushions look like small drums; that way they'd have fit nicely into the empty hand creme jars. But the fabric was too thin and threadbare for it.

Maybe a different fabric will work.

It seems to work better with felt, but that doesn't solve the original problem: what to do with the thin cotton.

You'll think of something, probably when you least expect to.

Glad the basket worked out for you but shame about the pincushion - hopefully more inspiration will come your way soon.

I’ve picked up a pair of part made socks (well one was finished and the second was started) as my next WIP to finish. So with the bit I’ve done so far today has taken me up to the heel which I’m just about to start.

Me, I'm in awe of people who can knit more than uneven rows of the same stitch. *g*

Had a migraine most of the day, and so I slouched around the house letting the kids run wild while I slowly added rows to my knitted scarf sweater. Managed twenty rows, maybe? It's kind of a mindless pattern. I wanted to DO something but didn't have the mental energy for anything much more complicated than that. Did finish off two of the pop-up cube books I'd intended to work on the other night, just had final gluing and fitting to do, and they're in the book press now. Gonna lose an hour of sleep tonight (why stupid why) but after watching that one book-binding tutorial I want to give that a shot, so I think I'm going to at least print up the book I plan on binding and get the signatures folded and maybe even punched. Not going to be hammering my awl through the covers while the kids are asleep, though. I figure if I get everything punched and pierced before baby arrives, and cut and measured, I can sew at my leisure at a later date...

Sorry about the migraine, they suck, but well done with knitting progress and cube book progress!

Have fun getting the book ready for binding. Not long to baby day now...

Good Lord, that was a lot of work! What would you have achieved if you didn't have a migraine?

LOL mostly my house would be a lot cleaner than it is.
