Check-In Post - January 10th 2025

Hello to all members, passers-by, curious onlookers, and shy lurkers, and welcome to our regular daily check-in post. Just leave a comment below to let us know how your current projects are progressing, or even if they're not.

Checking in is NOT compulsory, check in as often or as seldom as you want, this community isn't about pressure it's about encouragement, motivation, and support. Crafting is meant to be fun, and what's more fun than sharing achievements and seeing the wonderful things everyone else is creating?

There may also occasionally be questions, but again you don't have to answer them, they're just a way of getting to know each other a bit better.

This Week's Question: If you're making any, what are your crafting resolutions for 2025?

If anyone has any questions of their own about the community, or suggestions for tags, questions to be asked on the check-in posts, or if anyone is interested in playing check-in host for a week here on the community, which would entail putting up the daily check-in posts and responding to comments, go to the Questions & Suggestions post and leave a comment.

I now declare this Check-In OPEN!

That's a good thing, if you want to reach the 200 layers to make your arms look like those of the world's strongest men. *g*

I've decided to take a crafting break before frustration would overwhelm me and do some necessary tasks instead. This resulted in the sorting out of six whole sleeves in my booking cabinet; mostly old hand-scripted stuff and research results that are no longer needed.

nice to meet you all, im new to the group and new to crochet

im currently working on a triangle shawl with shell stitch, but im also eyeing a pattern for a scarf. but before i start something else thats going to take me several several days, im reading a pattern for a hat/hair net/snood, something i can finish quicker and will help me get used to making looser structures than ive been doing thus far

Hello! That sounds like some excellent plans. Is the triangle scarf your first project?

i completed a shawl from hexagons and two christmas stockings before this, during december, and these were my firsts. its not my first time attempting to learn but its the first time ive got over the learning curve, and ive been surprisingly motivated since then!

thanks, i will do as i get better photos ^_^ i did get my new ravelry account on my profile, save people sifting through the sitreps on my dw.

i remain amazed at those who understand knitting, it truly looks like magic! but my wife has tentative plans to learn to knit this year, and im really excited to see what she can make

this got to me to check if the rav link on my profile was working (it was not.) - so thats fixed now

this is my third attempt to learn and the only one thats worked, probably due to the deep difference between 'wanting to know' and 'wanting to learn'. but i agree with yoy on the differing brains

I finished my Christmas decoration wood carving! I went for a design of a puffin on one side, and a sea-sunset on the other. I'm glad I've got it done early this year.

I'm hoping to do some more woodcarving this year, and my goal is to get the next project done before May, when my OH's birthday is, it's a project I'm hoping to give as a gift.
