Hello to all members, passers-by, curious onlookers, and shy lurkers, and welcome to our regular daily check-in post. Just leave a comment below to let us know how your current projects are progressing, or even if they're not.
Checking in is NOT compulsory, check in as often or as seldom as you want, this community isn't about pressure it's about encouragement, motivation, and support. Crafting is meant to be fun, and what's more fun than sharing achievements and seeing the wonderful things everyone else is creating?
There may also occasionally be questions, but again you don't have to answer them, they're just a way of getting to know each other a bit better.
This Week's Question: If you're making any, what are your crafting resolutions for 2025?
If anyone has any questions of their own about the community, or suggestions for tags, questions to be asked on the check-in posts, or if anyone is interested in playing check-in host for a week here on the community, which would entail putting up the daily check-in posts and responding to comments, go to the Questions & Suggestions post and leave a comment.
I now declare this Check-In OPEN!

I went shopping online earlier this year to get the wool for the second dolphin tapestry, only to discover that most of the colours have been discontinued in both Anchor and DMC - the difficulty with trying to buy alternatives is that I'm not sure which of the original colours the numbers equate to, so it's hard to work out what the best alternative is - if anyone knows of a website that would show me all the colours as they were and as they are now it would be much appreciated.
Anyway the outcome was I then got lost looking at different other projects that I might enjoy... and was trying to plan for a project I could work on when I'm recovering from surgery next month - I may have distinctly overestimated just how many projects I can get through, particularly given all the projects I already have to hand waiting on completion. So I'm now the slightly guilty feeling owner of another paint by numbers kit and a latch hook rug kit - neither of which I really needed but... no one will notice when I slip them into the pile, right?

I have this colour conversion chart but I'm suspecting that that isn't what you are after, if the issue is discontinued.
I have a stash of assorted floss that probably includes at least some DMC - I'd be happy to go look at the numbers on them if you want to list the codes you have.

Good luck!
If you are looking for yarn of the discontinued colours, I have spares of DMC tapestry wool in 7369 (light green), 7428 (forest green?), 7802 (mid blue) and 7375 (burgundy). I have no idea why I have half a dozen of each of these, but they aren't allocated to a project, and have been in the current moth proof jar for some years. I may have inherited them from someone.

Nope, no one will notice ;)

This one has a list of conversion charts to other brands:

I get like that when I go online looking to buy something. It's so easy to get carried away. But latch hook rugs are great, and the last paint by numbers pictures you did looked wonderful, plus you'll enjoy relaxing with them, so try not to feel so guilty =)

I can see it as being that people buy kits because nowhere sells the tapestry wools. Have you looked at lovecrafts.com? They sell so much craft stuff, they might sell the skeins of wool. Probably not the colours you want right now, but it still might be worth looking.

Yeah, online shopping is just a huge temptation. So much more selection than in local shops!
Hope your surgery next month goes well
