Hello to all members, passers-by, curious onlookers, and shy lurkers, and welcome to our regular daily check-in post. Just leave a comment below to let us know how your current projects are progressing, or even if they're not.

Checking in is NOT compulsory, check in as often or as seldom as you want, this community isn't about pressure it's about encouragement, motivation, and support. Crafting is meant to be fun, and what's more fun than sharing achievements and seeing the wonderful things everyone else is creating?

There may also occasionally be questions, but again you don't have to answer them, they're just a way of getting to know each other a bit better.

This Week's Question: If you're making any, what are your crafting resolutions for 2025?

If anyone has any questions of their own about the community, or suggestions for tags, questions to be asked on the check-in posts, or if anyone is interested in playing check-in host for a week here on the community, which would entail putting up the daily check-in posts and responding to comments, go to the Questions & Suggestions post and leave a comment.

I now declare this Check-In OPEN!

Sounds like a good evening :)

The last day of the year was both busy and comfortable. I worked a bit on my rag dolls: two bodies, two arms and two heads are now more or less done. And the face of the second one looks indeed more like a girl's, although it isn't entirely finished yet. I really enjoyed today's slow and comfortable crafting.

As for today's question: I don't have any true resolutions, just an unfortunately quite long to-do list, so I assume I'll be busy with unpleasant tasks for a while. *sigh*

Thanks. I'm trying to use the brief lull between hectic household activities.

Well done on the doll progress.

It is calming to work on a project without a deadline. Just for the joy of it. :)

No crafting today. My hand was sore when I woke up, so I'm resting it.

Though I did do some graphical design, kinda. Last night, I did my first stream from my new gaming computer (it went well!) and my usual viewer suggested that since I'm changing my schedule, starting a new game, AND had a new person in chat last night, it might be a good idea to post a stream schedule on Ye Olde Social Medias. So I spent several hours browsing templates at places, and bought one for a few bucks off Etsy. It's a Canva template so pretty easy to edit, but to get it perfect I had to do some image editing in Gimp.

Now I am thinking nap. Nap is good.

Congrats on the first stream on the new computer.

I hope your nap was most excellent and that your hand feels better soon.

My last hat of 2024:

For 2025, my goal is to make more things (cat beds, hats, scarves, etc).

Most excellent

I hope the holidays have been good to everyone.

Today, my crafting related activities have been catching up reading here and dropping off the art book I did at those year long workshops this year at the library. It was requested to be part of a display of different kinds of art books at the library for the month of January.

All month, my Mondays with Lynne have been making Christmas cards, though this week's was more ambiguously winter. Card making is going well, but the 3 prior sessions had me concerned enough about the living situation with Lynne and her son I felt compelled to document what I've seen. To what end, I don't know. Lynne's daughter visited over Christmas though and that seems to have helped for now.

I'm taking a little knitting break. I finished the wingspan shawl. *Happy dance* I still need to weave in the ends. It's measurements: 22in/56cm from top to bottom, and approximately 55in/140cm across. After I finished the shawl, I concentrated on working on the eclectic cable scarf. I got very excited because I thought I had finished it, only to find it was 10 inches to go still. I was very upset and decided it was time for a break.

Happy New Year, everyone!

Thanks :)

A break is always helpful when you are about to stop enjoying your craft. Still, you've done a great job, finishing two such large projects.

Oh, and welcome back! :)

Very much so. Thanks! It feels good to have them done.

Thank you :)

First project for the year is underway. Another surcote in a wool.

I had to look up surcote after seeing your image. Is the cloth the thread is sitting upon the fabric for the surcote? If so, did you weave it yourself? Or is the thread thread that you're spinning in order to make the fabric? Very cool what you're doing in either case.
