Hello to all members, passers-by, curious onlookers, and shy lurkers, and welcome to our regular daily check-in post. Just leave a comment below to let us know how your current projects are progressing, or even if they're not.

Checking in is NOT compulsory, check in as often or as seldom as you want, this community isn't about pressure it's about encouragement, motivation, and support. Crafting is meant to be fun, and what's more fun than sharing achievements and seeing the wonderful things everyone else is creating?

There may also occasionally be questions, but again you don't have to answer them, they're just a way of getting to know each other a bit better.

Early post tonight because I need to do some writing later. I might do some knitting while I watch David Attenborough in a bit, but I have finished the Christmas cards for my neighbours. I made more than I need, so I can pick and choose who gets which one, but it'll mean I have some left over for next year.

The photos aren't great, it was a very grey day, but they're the best I can manage.

Thank you! Fairly basic since I had the printed card toppers. Bought those years ago, along with several other sets. I think they're okay for a rush job.

Thank you! They're quite heavy so I'm not sure they'll stand up very well, but hopefully the neighbours will like them.

Originally I wanted to start putting away all the crafty things and clean up the mess in the study/workroom today, but instead I spent the morning with creating Mr. Meece.

Meet Mr. Meece!. Isn't it amazing what one can do inspired by discarded shoulder pads? Mr. Meece is actually a hand puppet (if said hand is rather small), and will serve well for the two-year-old grandson of a friend.

I supposedly finished a knitted mini stocking today. I say "supposedly" because it came out a bit deformed. I am likely going to rip back to the heel turn and redo the gusset and foot.

I also did 45 minutes on a wall hanging and 35 minutes on mom's poinsettia. AND cooked dinner. AND did errands. I am *so* going to play video games now.

ANOTHER FFXIV FAN! WHEE!! I love it myself, however I was not playing it tonight, but rather FFXI. It was my jam twelve+ years ago, and the new raid in XIV gave me strong nostalgia goggles, so I oops and went back to XI. Been enjoying it! But I do need to get back to XIV myself, as I still haven't finished the new patch MSQ.

I have not played BG3 because I tend to be a one-trick gamer... It's hard to pull me away from the Final Fantasy franchise. But I +am+ trying to expand my horizons somewhat! earlier this year I played Stray and loved it, and I just got a better computer so am hoping to start streaming some Switch games soon, though I need a capture card first.

I'm not as familiar with the rest of FF, mostly only ever played 14 lol but I've played since late HW and written quite a lot thanks mostly to the yearly FFxiv writing challenge

BG3 is REALLY good, but woo has it eaten my soul :'D;;;; I've got over 1000 hours in it and counting

I've played the entire mainline of Final Fantasy, along with several of the spin-offs. They're ALL worth playing, and as a FFXIV player, you'd probably delight in seeing where all the influences come from:

* Crystal Tower sequence is FFIII
* Endwalker and its patches are FFIV
* Omega raids take influence from FFV & VI
* Eden raids are inspired by FFVIII
* Alexander plays a key role in FFIX
* Van'diel raids made this former FFXI shriek from all the references
* Ivalice raids are from FFXII & Tactics

There's other smaller references too. The concept of the Warrior of Light is from Final Fantasy 1, for example, though other games in the franchise use that name, too.

And I am adding you to my reading list as well as giving you access to my journal, since most of my stuff is posted locked. No need to give access back to yours unless you want to.

cool thanks! honestly I have Nothing post locked currently (and my casual posting's all over on my Pillowfort) so it doesn't matter much lol

I played uhhhhhhhhhhhh... 12? 12 after the Ivalice raids came out and didn't care for it a ton, but tbh I struggle with most older games. hoping to play 16 eventually, but not until they drop Denuvo off the PC version lol

mostly tho I'm just happy to take 14 for what it is and don't mind much when the references go over my head
