Hello to all members, and welcome to our regular daily check-in post. Just leave a comment below to let us know how your current projects are progressing, or even if they're not.
Checking in is NOT compulsory, check in as often or as seldom as you want, this community isn't about pressure it's about encouragement, motivation, and support. Crafting is meant to be fun, and what's more fun than sharing achievements and seeing the wonderful things everyone else is creating?
There may also occasionally be questions, but again you don't have to answer them, they're just a way of getting to know each other a bit better.
Today's Question: No question today.
If anyone has any questions of their own about the community, or suggestions for tags, questions to be asked on the check-in posts, or if anyone is interested in playing check-in host for a week here on the community, which would entail putting up the daily check-in posts and responding to comments, go to the Questions & Suggestions post and leave a comment.
I now declare this Check-In OPEN!

I've having a frustrating evening trying to research canon for a Babylon 5 fic and my DVD player kept spitting the disc out before telling me NO DISC *sigh* I did get it to load eventually, but there are times I feel like throwing my TV out the window.

started the daunting process of turning my kitchen over for Passover--made it about halfway, and we'll wrap up the rest after work today! It's about to be a big ol' cooking fest once the kitchen's ready for passover. I'm hoping to get some crochet time in sometime in the next couple days--I'm apparently on a crochet rug-making kick and I've got another one in progress and another one in the planning stages.
(am i working my way up to finally being able to Finish A Blanket? MAYBE)

Excuse my ignorance, but is there a traditional meal made for passover?
Good luck with your rugs, and your possible blanket!

there sure is! sort of. passover starts with a Seder (which translates to Order) that's got fourteen parts, one of which (part 10) is The Festive Meal. There are specific foods to the seder itself (more information about the seder itself here!), and the festive meal is a free for all! There are dishes that are common or customary based on ethnic group (e.g., you're almost guaranteed to find gefilte fish at an Ashkenazi seder but not at a Sefardi seder) but there's nothing mandatory about the meal contents itself.
fun passover fact: the halachic (jewish legal) definition of dessert at a seder is half a specific piece of matzah (called the Afikomen), the seder cannot halachically be concluded without the afikomen, and accordingly there is a long and storied tradition of The Afikomen Being Stolen And Ransomed For Prizes By The Youth Of The House
