Checking in is NOT compulsory, check in as often or as seldom as you want, this community isn't about pressure it's about encouragement, motivation, and support. Crafting is meant to be fun, and what's more fun than sharing achievements and seeing the wonderful things everyone else is creating?

There may also occasionally be questions, but again you don't have to answer them, they're just a way of getting to know each other a bit better.

Another day of rain all morning and sunshine all afternoon. I got another half dozen big docks from the edge of the lawn, the bit beside the path I dug the honeysuckle roots out of. Then I tried to get one out of the other side of the lawn, which was a lot more difficult and I didn't get the whole root. There are still a lot so I have to keep trying.


This evening I've finished knitting the first of the pair of arm warmers for my neighbour, I just haven't cast off yet.

Question... I love honeysuckle! Why would you want to get rid of it?

I also love honeysuckle, although this wasn't the scented variety, it was a heritage one with slightly furry stems, and I potted up several rooted pieces so I can put it somewhere more suitable. It had rooted into the path, completely blocking it, and into the lawn beyond, right down one side of the garden. It was also choking the shrubs and pulling branches down with the weight. Totally out of control, so I had to cut down and uproot quite a bit to reclaim the path and save the shrubs. It took most of the summer. I prefer the scented honeysuckle, but that also needs to be in the right place and under control, not blocking the steps, so I'll have to dig up and move some of that next year. Honeysuckle is my absolute favourite scent.

I wanted my path back. Hadn't seen it in 20 years! The honeysuckle growing there was my fault. I used to grow and sell plants, before a vine weevil infestation put an end to that, and I grew the honeysuckle from seed, it being a heritage variety. They were in pots, which I put on the path, and the never got moved when I stopped selling. They rooted through the bottoms of the pots into the path, then wherever the stems touched the ground, those rooted too, and before I knew what was happening, it had taken over. There's still plenty on the banking, growing through the shrubs, but the path is a path again.

I've been crafty today. Not overly so but still. Since next week promises to be rather... eventful, I decided that the needful thing to do was to make some creative progress.

So, after having written an acceptable little chunk I turned to crafting and made another pencil holder out of burlap and a vegetable tin. Like the previous one, it was a lot of work but turned out quite well. Once I've made the rest of them I'll take a group photo. I have to be careful with my scrapbook space since Pinterest had stabbed me in the back. *sigh*

I also gave these little darlings a try.

So far I've done the angel body with both the fluffy white and the tulle layer. Poor little angel looks like a sausage at the moment, but I'm determined to finish it and hope it will look good in the end.

Just still working on dishcloths when I have the time to craft.


We are continuing with the idea that I'm the general contractor and husband does work after things are all decided. This morning I went in the crawlspace under the laundry room, measured, took photos, and made an order of work. Adding insulation to the bottom of the floor and sealing any gaps.

You are brave! Adding insulation sounds like a good idea.

Hope you're managing to find time and relax with the dishcloth making amid all the house projects.

having a) got the habit of going into the library when I want a break (I've been doing jigsaws) and b) got the library table clear for doing crafts (run out of new jigsaws) I moved a hand crafting project on to the table, and made significant progress with it while listening to a podcast. With the amount of progress today, if I can repeat that the next three days, I'll have it ready for the next step.

I love jigsaws, but these days I do them online because they take up less space and I can't lose the pieces ;)

I was gifted a few puzzles, I've now done them and can pass them on to a new home. I never have quite got the hang of online ones.

I do miss doing physical jigsaws, I just don't have room at the moment, or time really.

The online jigsaw site I use is mostly small ones. 300 pieces maximum, but I mostly do under 100 piece, and I pick ones where I don't have to turn the pieces around. No rotation. Makes it easier, then it's just click and drag, and there are so many to choose from. Something to suit everyone. I like roses, horses, owls, and steampunk *grins*
