Hello to all members, passers-by, curious onlookers, and shy lurkers, and welcome to our regular daily check-in post. Just leave a comment below to let us know how your current projects are progressing, or even if they're not.
Checking in is NOT compulsory, check in as often or as seldom as you want, this community isn't about pressure it's about encouragement, motivation, and support. Crafting is meant to be fun, and what's more fun than sharing achievements and seeing the wonderful things everyone else is creating?
There may also occasionally be questions, but again you don't have to answer them, they're just a way of getting to know each other a bit better.
This Week's Question: Have you ever made something and then had no idea what to do with it?
If anyone has any questions of their own about the community, or suggestions for tags, questions to be asked on the check-in posts, or if anyone is interested in playing check-in host for a week here on the community, which would entail putting up the daily check-in posts and responding to comments, go to the Questions & Suggestions post and leave a comment.
I now declare this Check-In OPEN!

Any hopes of getting it repaired? If not, even more bad luck and all the extra expenses (on the spoiled food replacements, the repairs or the new freezer) surely cut into your craft supplies fun budget. :-(
Good on the arm warmer, though! I admire the fact that you did a little knitting after this long and exhausting day you had.

I don't know yet if I'll have to replace it. Not much is actually being waster, I salvaged some food that's in a neighbour's freezer now, and what had to be thrown away isn't too much, mostly defrosting veg. It's a small freezer, doesn't hold much, but I live alone so it's plenty for me. Once it's defrosted and cleaned out, I'll see if the door seal is working or not. There's a slim chance that the problem is just ice build-up because I didn't defrost it last year, so it hasn't been done in a couple of years. I was going to, but I had the fridge problems, then a lot of health issues over winter, and I kept putting it off. If the seal is definitely gone, or if the freezer won't freeze, I'll have to replace it, but I don't know yet.
I don't need more craft supplies anyway, I've got more than I'll ever use, so I don't mind.
I needed a bit of down time, even for half an hour.

Any tips on how to get myself to craft after a long day when I know that passive hobbies such as watching Youtube, browsing social media etc. are not as restorative as more active hobbies would be once I got the courage to start?

Maybe keep a suitable crafting project by wherever you sit when you're watching youtube videos and train yourself to pick it up and do one row when you start watching. With any luck, once you get through one row you might just carry on for a bit. Good luck finding your motivation.

I require something to listen to while I work, so I usually have YouTube going while I knit or whatever it is I'm working on, if I'm not watching a movie while I work. I'm not sure how one would turn that into a habit though.
