Hello to all members, passers-by, curious onlookers, and shy lurkers, and welcome to our regular daily check-in post. Just leave a comment below to let us know how your current projects are progressing, or even if they're not.

Checking in is NOT compulsory, check in as often or as seldom as you want, this community isn't about pressure it's about encouragement, motivation, and support. Crafting is meant to be fun, and what's more fun than sharing achievements and seeing the wonderful things everyone else is creating?

There may also occasionally be questions, but again you don't have to answer them, they're just a way of getting to know each other a bit better.

Spontaneous craft idea

Little Christmas gift boxes, made of repurposed (empty) hand creme pots:



I think I can find some more empty pots in my craft cupboard, so I might make some more gift boxes for the small purse

Just the other day I told my husband we should keep buying some particular mixed nuts, they are decent and the jar is pretty solid. :D

As I mentioned earlier on my journal, the online weather forecast for my are was pretty dire, with winds of up to 4238mph. Yes, you read that right. And my area was apparently better off than elsewhere in the country. All any of us can assume is that there's a glitch in the forecasting system, because there's been no wind at all where I am, so thankfully the extreme gales didn't happen. This was a huge relief. I got outside since it was dry, swept the patch, dug up two small docks and a dandelion root, cut back some nettles that would have ben a Halloween hazard.


I've sewn up one of the side seams on my sweater, didn't have time for the other, and knitted another 20 rows on the arm warmer. Also worked on my spook_me fic some more. It's over 6k now!

That must have been quite a shock... until you realized that there had to be a glitch in the system.

Winds of that strength would completely obliterate everything. I looked at a few other areas and Edinburgh was the 'worst' with winds over 7000mph! If you're gonna get a glitch in your weather forecasting system, make sure it's a fun one!

Would the island even still be there? Another person I know is in Wales and mentioned weather report oddness as well.

It would probably be somewhere out past Mars by now, I think...

Everywhere I looked up had similar bizarre wind speeds except for London, which was boringly prosaic. I feel rather sorry for Londoners, missing out on the fun.

I did, which is good. Temperatures are dropping though, soon it will be too cold to be outside without wrapping up in a thick coat and a hat.

It was a glitch! I was also prepping for horrible winds which never materialised.

Thanks for the article! All in all, I found it rather hilarious *grins* We KNOW weather forecasts get it wrong a lot, but maybe in future we'll be more forgiving over forecasts that are LESS wrong than yesterday's Heeee!

I badly lost yarn chicken with the end of the trivet. I do not have more of this pale purple yarn. I am starting another while I consider what to do.

I wombled into the craft room today and poked at (one of) the teetering mounds. Came out of it with a conundrum (what does one do when one has 31 squares and no idea where the rest of the yarn is) and two other incomplete crochet projects that I could be getting on with. So, one red and white lap blanket in quite thin yarn and one 'neapolitan icecream' blanket in heavy yarn (I had to find a different crochet hook!) coming up. I don't think either has quite enough yarn in the pile, but I'm hoping that there will be something else in the stash. Given that both are using up other people's remaining yarn, I don't know whether they are acrylic (most likely for most of the yarns) or wool (plausible for some of the colours) and therefore how to go about finding more. Must remember at some point when I'm not resting to go and flame test some of the tag ends.

I also sorted a mixed pile into 'revisit' and 'crochet squares'. Not all the crochet squares are complete, but at least they are in a box now, and I can revisit what to do with them later.

Your wombling was clearly very effective, even if you don't know where some of your yarn is. (I have the reverse problem, I know where the remaining yarn is, but I don't know where I put the sweater I was making with it...)

Those two blankets should keep you busy for a bit, and hopefully you'll find some yarn that will work to complete them if you do run out. Good luck with the flame testing, hope the yarn ends prove to be acrylic, it'll probably be easier for you to find another yarn to work with what you've got.

Oh, I suspect I have some of that issue as well! I just haven't found yarn where I was sure I was already doing something.

Crafting means searching for something you know you were working on and finding something you'd forgotten about instead. *grins*
