Hello to all members, and welcome to our regular daily check-in post. Just leave a comment below to let us know how your current projects are progressing, or even if they're not.

Checking in is NOT compulsory, check in as often or as seldom as you want, this community isn't about pressure it's about encouragement, motivation, and support. Crafting is meant to be fun, and what's more fun than sharing achievements and seeing the wonderful things everyone else is creating?

There may also occasionally be questions, but again you don't have to answer them, they're just a way of getting to know each other a bit better.

Today's Question: No question today.

If anyone has any questions of their own about the community, or suggestions for tags, questions to be asked on the check-in posts, or if anyone is interested in playing check-in host for a week here on the community, which would entail putting up the daily check-in posts and responding to comments, go to the Questions & Suggestions post and leave a comment.

I now declare this Check-In OPEN!

It’s fine ^_^ This is from a 4oz batch of superwash merino wool. I break it into 3 (eyeballed) equal sections and spin each separately and then ply them together afterwards. From previous experience I’m expecting somewhere in the ~300 yard range of finished yarn, around fingering/sport weight. But it’s a new wheel and I’m a bit out of practice, so that may be off more than I would normally expect.

I know people who really meticulously plan out what their yarn is going to end up like and how much and I’ve done that when I have specific plans for the resulting yarn, but most of the time I just like to spin, see what it turns into, and leave deciding what I’ll do with it next to another day. Or year.

(I learned to knit/spin in America so all my terms and measurements are still American XD)

The individual plies can end up different lengths—it’s pretty much the shortest ply is the length of the finished yarn XD Some people find other ways to use the leftovers, what I do varies.

Ah! I realize didn’t post the photo here. It’s predyed, one I did a few years ago when I was still doing such things. I’ve posted it to my newly resurrected Instagram XD

I have complex relationships with social media, but I really like the concept of Instagram. I’ve restarted it as a personal account rather than a professional account (since I no longer need to promote my fiber arts business and my current work is it’s own self promotion for my skills) and I think that takes a lot of the ‘pressure’ off XD I can just foodle around it with when I want to XD

That's a LOT of yarn! Merino is great wool! I have a merino blanket and it's so snuggly!
