Checking in is NOT compulsory, check in as often or as seldom as you want, this community isn't about pressure it's about encouragement, motivation, and support. Crafting is meant to be fun, and what's more fun than sharing achievements and seeing the wonderful things everyone else is creating?

There may also occasionally be questions, but again you don't have to answer them, they're just a way of getting to know each other a bit better.

I didn't get as much time outside today as I would have liked, but I managed almost an hour before breakfast and another hour this afternoon before the rain arrived. It wasn't heavy, but it was enough to convince me I'd be better of indoors doing cross stitch.


I will be very glad when my secret project is finished. It looks good so far, but I'm not having an easy time following the chart and it's hard to see some of the symbols underneath the lines for the backstitch so I keep missing stitches, then having to fill in an odd stitch here and there later. I think I'm about two thirds through the cross stitch, but I'm going cross-eyed.

I'm doing my best! Might try something with larger areas of colour next though.

I started a new project (because I only have three unfinished ones): small purses made of - don't laugh! - shoulder pads. I always remove those from the clothes because I've got broad enough shoulders naturally and would otherwise look like a gorilla. Had I planned to make larger plushies, I might have used the pads for elephant ears or whatnot. But they work well enough as little purses, either for paper tissues or for change, as they close well enough with Velcro. Which brought me the questionable delight of sewing on self-adhesive Velcro stripes, which is always hell on the fingers.

So cool that you've found a use for unwanted shoulder pads! Looking forward to seeing the resulting purses.

Too bad it means more Velcro sewing though.
