Hello to all members, passers-by, curious onlookers, and shy lurkers, and welcome to our regular daily check-in post. Just leave a comment below to let us know how your current projects are progressing, or even if they're not.

Checking in is NOT compulsory, check in as often or as seldom as you want, this community isn't about pressure it's about encouragement, motivation, and support. Crafting is meant to be fun, and what's more fun than sharing achievements and seeing the wonderful things everyone else is creating?

There may also occasionally be questions, but again you don't have to answer them, they're just a way of getting to know each other a bit better.

Still plodding through prep work ion all the fabric I've cut, but should be finished with that in three of four days, and then I can cut more fabric... I have a whole list to cut from the cream / off white 18 hpi. And a lot that I need to cut in white, but I haven't ironed the fabric yet. A few things I think would be best stitched on 20 hpi to get them small enough for cards.


I've done approximately half of the backstitch on my current stitching, so hoping to get more of that done while watching TV. Probably won't finish it tonight, but there's no mad rush.

Haha! That was the one that gave me the most trouble. I had to re-chart the border because on the printed design it wasn't symmetrical and the centrepiece was off-centre, and the backstitch weas a nightmare. So glad you like it!

They are very lovely! At first glance I thought the tile patterns were actually tiles and was trying to figure out when you worked that in with all the crossstitching and fabric cutting.

That's so cool! But no, they really are stitched, the designer just used Delft tiles as inspiration, and did a really good job of it. They're lovely designs. Clicking on the pics to see them larger, you can see the stitches. I finished them months ago, but only just got the pics uploaded onto my computer. Next I need to photograph the fairy designs...

Wow, 20 hpi sounds quite small. Do you need great light conditions to stitch that?

Thank you, I am pleased with how good the Delft tiles look now they're finished. They weren't easy to stitch.

I'll fit the prep work in, I got more done today so it's progressing, although I'll have more to do when I cut the next batch of fabric pieces.

It is VERY small, although I have stitched on 22 hpi before, I did the Holly Fairy as A Christmas card for my mum about 20 years ago when my eyesight was better, and I really needed good light for that. There were only a couple of hours a day I could work on it. When I eventually dig it out I'll take a photo and post it here, I just don't remember which box I put it in.

20 hpi won't be easy, but I use magnifying glasses when I'm stitching, and I have a pair with LED light included that I'll probably use when working on the high counts.

No actual crafting today, but I was in town and spent an indecent amount of money on scrapbook paper. I already have too much of the stuff, but if there is anything I can't resist it's pretty paper.

Craft paper always comes in handy. There are so many pretty ones.

It's something you use. A friend of mine buys craft stuff yet does no crafts. I think buying the craft materials is the hobby at this point.

Haha, we share the same affliction! Just recently, I was in one of those home decor/craft shops and just barely resisted buying more craft paper. I did walk about with a ton of notebooks and exercise books I definitely also do not need. Oh well.

I always justify those purchases with the fact that paper does not expire. XD

Cooking & cleaning today - tomorrow is brother's birthday and our parents and maybe an aunt & uncle will come over.

Made the lemon cupcakes he likes (recipe is just a lemon cake mix, but adds lemon pudding mix & sour cream). Very rich and very lemon.

Finally planning on doing a little craftwork today :D. Going to see if I can finish a pair of earrings (very basic 'turn a charm into a dangly earring' ones, but still), and if I can find a nice patch, I'm going to mend a hole-y sweater :D

Also, I had ordered a book on embroidery stitches for a friend, but looked through it and am verrryyy tempted to keep it for myself xD. I haven't done embroidery in years, but my roommate's taken it up, and watching her has given me the itch to do it again.

Yay for crafting plans! Dangly earrings are the best. I used to make loads from re-purposed beads, I have hundreds of pairs, lol!

Good luck with patching your sweater.

Have fun with the embroidery. One of these days I'll clear out mum's embroidery transfers. I gave up trying
to do that kind of embroidery because I pull the thread too tight.

I did some watercolor backgrounds to use for collage materials for the father's day card, but I still haven't figured out what to use as a card base. Father's Day is Sunday in the US.

Oh, I just saw your comment here. Those watercolour backgrounds sound lovely. I hope inspiration has struck you by now or else that it strikes you soon if Father's Day in the US is on Sunday, which is in 3 hours here in Germany but I think in the US, you have a little more time left. Keeping my fingers crossed for you!
