Hello to all members, passers-by, curious onlookers, and shy lurkers, and welcome to our regular daily check-in post. Just leave a comment below to let us know how your current projects are progressing, or even if they're not.
Checking in is NOT compulsory, check in as often or as seldom as you want, this community isn't about pressure it's about encouragement, motivation, and support. Crafting is meant to be fun, and what's more fun than sharing achievements and seeing the wonderful things everyone else is creating?
There may also occasionally be questions, but again you don't have to answer them, they're just a way of getting to know each other a bit better.
This Week's Question: What's the most complicated project you've ever tackled?
If anyone has any questions of their own about the community, or suggestions for tags, questions to be asked on the check-in posts, or if anyone is interested in playing check-in host for a week here on the community, which would entail putting up the daily check-in posts and responding to comments, go to the Questions & Suggestions post and leave a comment.
I now declare this Check-In OPEN!

Okay, so I bought six colors of green for niece’s blanket, plus white for the border. When I started the blanket, I was just like “Okay, she’s graduating high school, make the adult size”. I failed to look at the actual measurements of the adult size per the pattern… it’s BIG!!! And my gauge is a bit loose, so I’m coming out with a blanket that’s nearly 60” wide. WOWZERS.
I am working on the fifth green now. It is measuring 48” long. I have five more rows to go of this color. I am running out of time, and while it’s still theorectically possible to do a sixth color as well, my body/mind are ready to be DONE. So, I am pretty sure I am going to stop after the fifth color and go to the border. Friends elsenet agree with this.
I made a quick swatch for the border… it’s not the full border, I just wanted to see the colors. I swatched once with the lightest green (aka sixth color) and once with white. My swatches were only about 2-3 rounds of border. The actual border is 7 rounds.
I think the Light Green border looks a bit dingy. So my plan right now is to do six rounds of the border in white, then the last round in the light green. That way, the blanket will still have some light green in it (which I used in her matching pillow) but the color will be more of a pop.
Mom and at least one other person thinks just one round of light green won't be enough, but I think it will. The border is mostly rounds of single crochet, but I figure if I do the last round in half-double or double, that will be plenty of the light green to balance it out. But I will assess after I do, say, four rounds of white.

I like your plans for the border, and I think you're right to reassess when you're past the midway point. That way you can start the light green earlier if you decide that would work better, rather than getting to the last row and changing your mind. The blanket is going to look great, I'm sure =D

I do have the first coat of paint on the last side of the garage done. Storms tonight, so I may be up late.

That sounds like it will be fun!
Also yay for gardening. I've got rain keeping me indoors again.
