Hello to all members, passers-by, curious onlookers, and shy lurkers, and welcome to our regular daily check-in post. Just leave a comment below to let us know how your current projects are progressing, or even if they're not.

Checking in is NOT compulsory, check in as often or as seldom as you want, this community isn't about pressure it's about encouragement, motivation, and support. Crafting is meant to be fun, and what's more fun than sharing achievements and seeing the wonderful things everyone else is creating?

There may also occasionally be questions, but again you don't have to answer them, they're just a way of getting to know each other a bit better.

Wasn't sure if I'd have much time for crafting today, because of the fire being serviced, so I got a bit of writing done early so I could turn the computer off, and I settled in with my cross stitch to wait for the service guy's arrival. I was told somewhere between 11am and 1pm. He finally arrived at 1.30, because his previous call was 30 miles away and the traffic had been so bad it took him over an hour to drive it. He did a great job though, these people always do. I'm still freezing though. I did consider lighting the fire once the job was done, but I'm not going to. I'll just put up with the cold.


On the crafting side, by the time service guy (whose name was Andrew) arrived, I'd finished all the cross stitch on my second fairy. After he left, I did all the backstitch, so fairy number two is finished! Guess I did have plenty of crafting time after all =D

Hey, that is great!
As for the cold, have you considered knitting some shoes for yourself? When I was in the convent, I had a pair of nice, warm knitted shoes (or mocassins?) to wear in bed when it was cold. The nuns actually called them bed shoes. *g*

I've thought about it, but if wearing two pairs of socks and warm slippers doesn't keep my feet warm, I'm not sure anything will.

I'm pleased that I got so much crafting done today.

Congrats on fully finishing the second fairy! Sounds like you made the best possible use of the wait time on Friday. :D

What is your next project? The third fairy?

I did. I hate wasting time, I can always find something to occupy me.

Yep, I've started the third fairy, hoping to get it done in a week or so but this one has over 30 French knots, so... I might leave some of them out though, otherwise it might look a bit cluttered. I'm using a finer fabric than the pattern was designed for, 18 holes per inch instead of 14.

Ooof, that is a lot of knots for sure. I have no experience with this kind of embroidery but it makes sense that you'd leave some knots out doing it all on a finer fabric than it's designed for. Hoping the third fairy gives you a lot of fun time the upcoming week. :D

I'm enjoying the stitching so far.

Some of the small flowers in the fairy's bouquet have 4 French knots in them so I think I'll just do one in the centre of each.

I bought some thread and some polka-dot patterned felt sheets today. Does that count? I was really too busy for anything else.

I was too fidgety to do much today before or after work.

The closest to crafting I got today was stamping the back of the cards I've been making at Lynne's with my napping cat stamp and dating them.

I take that back. I did some edible crafting. I assembled and cooked open faced tuna melts and later artfully layered ladyfingers, fresh raspberries, and whipped cream. ;)

I did a row on my shawl. It's on the end part so the rows are very long. I'm done with the blue and cream stripes & I'm on the cream section.

I'm hoping to finish it before my trip to my sister's in MN. Either way I need to get my travel knitting picked out & started.

Wow! Not much further to go, but the really long rows can be a bit of a chore.

Good luck finishing it and picking out something suitable for travel knitting.
