Hello to all members, passers-by, curious onlookers, and shy lurkers, and welcome to our regular daily check-in post. Just leave a comment below to let us know how your current projects are progressing, or even if they're not.
Checking in is NOT compulsory, check in as often or as seldom as you want, this community isn't about pressure it's about encouragement, motivation, and support. Crafting is meant to be fun, and what's more fun than sharing achievements and seeing the wonderful things everyone else is creating?
There may also occasionally be questions, but again you don't have to answer them, they're just a way of getting to know each other a bit better.
This Week's Question: What's the most complicated project you've ever tackled?
If anyone has any questions of their own about the community, or suggestions for tags, questions to be asked on the check-in posts, or if anyone is interested in playing check-in host for a week here on the community, which would entail putting up the daily check-in posts and responding to comments, go to the Questions & Suggestions post and leave a comment.
I now declare this Check-In OPEN!

All bramble battling helps, even if it doesn't show.

I think the mistake you made last time was only giving your fingers a day or two to recover between pages. Hopefully, if you give them a few extra days you might be able to get the next page done in a week or less.

I also did a little mowing (by the driveway and in the dog's fenced area).

And yay, garden work done, too. What a lovely Sunday.

After that, I found out that the friend who I thought was coming next week from Berlin was coming this weekend and leaving early tomorrow morning. So we met up in my flatshare's kitchen spontaneously. We hadn't seen each other for years but it was as if he had never left the city. So good.
After that, I felt properly recharged and wrote a letter to a beloved penpal, yay! Also started another one but had to pause for dinner. I had dinner with that same flatmate as usual and she suggested watching a film together. We settled on "Mary & Max", a film from the 2000s, on an 8 year old Australian girl who starts a penfriendship with a middle-aged US-American guy. A thoroughly weird yet lovely film. I recommend it if you like weird people or penpalling or stop motion films.
Now I am catching up on DW, ordering some stuff for my new phone online and hoping to finish that second letter I started earlier today. All in all, a very relaxing Sunday. Tomorrow is a holiday here in Germany so I don't need to retire early, double yay.

Hope you get your second letter finished!

I'm impressed with how many different techniques you threw in there, and the level of complexity. I've never mastered intarsia work myself, I swiss darn any motifs on afterwards, but you've done a great job with yours. I'd love to know your secret for keeping the stitches even and gap free. My one attempt at intarsia knitting, some of the stitches around the edges of the design ended up looking bigger than the rest, and there were some small holes. In my defence, that was 40 plus years ago and was one of the first jumpers I made. *grins*

Re. intarsia, mine also looked kind of crap when first knitted - the trick is actually the weaving in ends. When you weave in the ends you can sew the holes shut and adjust the tension, and usually it comes out all right when blocked and worn for a while (which this sweater has been haha!)

Thanks, I'll have to remember that. As knitters, I don't think we ever stop learning. The same with all crafts, really. There are always new techniques to learn and new ideas to try out, even if they don't always work.
Are you working on anything at present?

Pity on the one that had to be un-sewn. I hope it turns out well on the second attempt. I have one pair of pants to mend, too, plus a cardigan and a jumper.
