Hello to all members, passers-by, curious onlookers, and shy lurkers, and welcome to our regular daily check-in post. Just leave a comment below to let us know how your current projects are progressing, or even if they're not.

Checking in is NOT compulsory, check in as often or as seldom as you want, this community isn't about pressure it's about encouragement, motivation, and support. Crafting is meant to be fun, and what's more fun than sharing achievements and seeing the wonderful things everyone else is creating?

There may also occasionally be questions, but again you don't have to answer them, they're just a way of getting to know each other a bit better.

This Week's Question: We all make mistakes - what's your most memorable crafting disaster?

If anyone has any questions of their own about the community, or suggestions for tags, questions to be asked on the check-in posts, or if anyone is interested in playing check-in host for a week here on the community, which would entail putting up the daily check-in posts and responding to comments, go to the Questions & Suggestions post and leave a comment.

I now declare this Check-In OPEN!

Wow! We are looking forward to seeing the finished design, too. :)

I did work a bit on pot holder #3; stitched together the sides temporarily, before I'd do the actual sewing.

The rest of the day was wasted with flat and window cleaning.

Flat cleaning is such a pointless endeavour. No matter how long and hard you work on it, the results never last any longer than two days, tops.

Congrats on being able to fit some crafting in.

The Jetsons lied to us about having cleaning robots by now and it's obnoxious.

A shame, really. Cleaning robots would be so handy!

They really would be.

I did redraw the card pattern for better legibility. I also finished the "wishing you a speedy recovery" card for Lynne. I then spent 2 1/2 hours trying to figure out where she was. Apparently, my visits are no longer on the calendar and she went driving about doing things she could not recall (her son was with her). When I did eventually go over there to give her the card and check on her, she seemed both more with it and less at the same time. Her doing whatever it was she was doing this morning tiring her out could be partially to blame though. I spent a half an hour with her and while I am not unconcerned, I am not more concerned than usual. I was also not allowed to speak to her son though, which may have answered some questions had I been able to. I also got the distressing news that one of the people helping take care of her while she was out of town for her surgery, was very adamant that since Lynne is ambulatory, she should be able to live alone and Lynne has taken this sentiment to heart.

To be clear, she could not keep track of our 20ish minute conversation. She cannot keep track of her medication, whether or not she's eaten, or drank any water. She thanked me for taking care of the animals while she was gone, then informed me she'd been on a trip for 2 weeks, in the same sentence. She has no idea why she has a jug to pee in to send in for post kidney surgery testing. And one of the reasons it took almost 45 minutes for the fire department that is less than a block away to respond to the fire at her house was because she forgot how to call for emergency services.

She should not live alone.

I am skipping stitch-n-scream today because of low energy, eye strain, and an injured finger.

Thanks! Rest, eye drops, and a cushy bandaid seem to have done the trick.

Yes. I just worry because she keeps threatening to throw her son out, even before this, and she has really latched onto this she doesn't need someone living with her idea.

Yes, it is quite the struggle.

That doesn't sound good. But perhaps they pumped her full of painkillers past-surgery, which might be the reason why she is so confused. Let's hope that she'll clear up, given enough time. But she definitely needs a caretaker.

She also has dementia. They had hoped that the surgery might at least lessen the symptoms of her dementia, but it was never definite and it's too early to tell.

The surgery wasn't related to her dementia, it was to get rid of an infection she's had for 2 years, but there is/was a possibility that the infection was contributing to the dementia.

The only reason she was allowing a caregiver was that her doctor told her she had to have one and she respects his authority over everyone else's, but she's forgotten that happened. Honestly, the key might be getting a professional as I don't see her ever letting her son be in charge the way he needs to be.

My fingers are crossed.

I'm done with a new scarf in red, yellow and electric blue + a black triangle!

I don't know if that counts as a crafting disaster or a mcguyverring win but last Friday I realized mid-row that a stitch had slipped, too far so I couldn't just catch it with my needles and I din't feel like finishing the row so I could free a needle but risk the stitch slipping further and I didn't have a crochet on me... so I used the key to a mini padlock I had on my key-ring to catch and crochet back this slipped stitch!
(And from now on I'll make sure to have not only scissors but also a crochet in my knitting bag just in case.)
