Hello to all members, passers-by, curious onlookers, and shy lurkers, and welcome to our regular daily check-in post. Just leave a comment below to let us know how your current projects are progressing, or even if they're not.

Checking in is NOT compulsory, check in as often or as seldom as you want, this community isn't about pressure it's about encouragement, motivation, and support. Crafting is meant to be fun, and what's more fun than sharing achievements and seeing the wonderful things everyone else is creating?

There may also occasionally be questions, but again you don't have to answer them, they're just a way of getting to know each other a bit better.

Exhausting day! I was out all morning, got a bit of shopping done after my appointment and nipped in a couple of charity shops. First one I went in had a bad labelled craft / card making for a fiver. I'm trying not to spend so much, but I bought it anyway, even though I couldn't tell much about what was in it except there was some patterned A4 card that looked pretty. When I got it home though, I'm not joking when I say what was inside must be worth at least £30. Two small sets of Christmas themed cutting dies, several clear stamps, 4 or 5 part-used books of printed verse for different occasions for putting inside cards, all on pretty paper, a stencil set for making handbag cards (no, no idea what those are), and embossing stencil, several packs of A4 card, several sheets of Christmas card toppers, patterned vellum, and a bunch of other things I can't remember.


Despite being exhausted, I finished the design I was stitching and started the next one, completing the first two shades of green on the biggest leaf. I made a mistake with the first colour though and had to re-do half of that after I miscounted and stitched one square higher than I should have. Ah well, it's sorted.

That was a lucky find! Congratulations! And good that you spotted the mistake in time and could correct it.

I didn't notice until I was working with the second colour and the two didn't meet where they were supposed to. Then I had to figure out where I'd gone wrong and unpick it back to that point. My own fault, I followed the wrong bit of the pattern.

At least you found and were able to fix the mistake before you went further.

Yes, I discovered it because while I was stitching with the second shade of green they weren't meeting where they were supposed to.

I've done some long-overdue mending today and started making dishclothes of an old gown.

All progress is good progress. Slow sewing will still get you there! Plus you're less likely to make mistakes than if you rush it.

I was going to make some cards today, but the day disappeared on me some how. I also sent my knitting bag home because I don't really get any time to just sit here, there is always something that needs attended to.

Maybe I'll make some cards tomorrow. I'm going to try to get things ready in case they come home early without warning while I'm at work before I go to work in the morning, so my afternoon should be relatively free and it's not a big deal if card making gets interrupted.

In pond news, my fix the other day did not work. I had a nearly empty pond again this morning. I adjusted the frog once again after refilling the pond didn't help the water pressure as it should have. Moving the tube that the water goes through in the frog did help though. We'll see how things are in the morning.

Too bad the day got away from you, hope you get some card-making done today.

It's a good thing you're there to keep an eye on the pond. I hope your fix this time works, or there might to be a drastic pond overhaul to save the poor fish.

It's now doing other things it shouldn't, but it is also no longer my responsibility and I relish that bit of freedom.
