Hello to all members, passers-by, curious onlookers, and shy lurkers, and welcome to our regular daily check-in post. Just leave a comment below to let us know how your current projects are progressing, or even if they're not.

Checking in is NOT compulsory, check in as often or as seldom as you want, this community isn't about pressure it's about encouragement, motivation, and support. Crafting is meant to be fun, and what's more fun than sharing achievements and seeing the wonderful things everyone else is creating?

There may also occasionally be questions, but again you don't have to answer them, they're just a way of getting to know each other a bit better.

Right, I've worked out that I'm missing 26 embroidery threads. Now the problem will be acquiring them. I've managed to order 7 of them off ebay, the seller had lots of colours but most of the ones I wanted were out of stock. 7 is better than none though, it's a start.


I finished stitching the leaves and stems on my sister's card, and I've started on the flowers, of which there are three. They're in 2 shades of yellow and orange, so I'm working with the darker yellow to start with. About 2/3 of that done. Stitching is going well! I wish I could spend more time on it every day, but I have other things to do, and the good light is still gone too early for evening stitching. Roll on summer!

Embroidery threads come in so many colours and shades, and every design uses a different combination, just a small selection of what's available. Makes it difficult when using designs from a magazine where you have to supply your own threads and fabric. Not that fabric is a problem, I've got tons of Aida, but with two main thread brands, Anchor and DMC, getting all the colours of thread needed for a project can be a trial, not to mention expensive.

That's a lot. I'd probably try to work through them by pattern, but I also assume a random selection will be able to buy. Sigh

I would have worked through them pattern by pattern, but a lot of the threads are needed for several different sets of patterns, and I'm also limited by what's available. With the new threads, a couple of the patterns are down to only needed one more colour. Hopefully, by the time I finish the owls and the tropical flowers I'll have all the threads I need for the next project...

I'm pleased with how quickly the card is coming along =)

Unfortunately, what I've managed to order still doesn't give me all the threads I need for any of the sets of designs I want to stitch =/

I've decided to take a break from crafting until Easter is over. Not only do I feel tired and uninspired, I still have some cooking and baking to do (just the normal, everyday kind), and I'll try to write a little bit in-between. At least I can do *that* lying on my belly, which is good for my legs and feet.

The sad truth is, writing has become something of a struggle in recent years, but I'm trying to get back into the habit of doing it regularly. I've so many unfinished stories it isn't even funny!

Since I finished the doily and the current set of dishcloths, maybe I will spend some time looking at patterns.

I started writing for story works today, but my brain was once again not braining right. On the plus side, I have enough of a grip on it, I might be able to squeeze out a drabble in time.

I can't sleep, so I might stay up and knit while I finish off the last episode of the Midsommer Murders DVDs I need to take back to the library. I'm undecided.

Hope you did manage to sleep in the end. Sometimes doing something until you get sleepy works. I always read in bed until I'm nodding off over my book.

Good luck with the writing! Believe me, I can feel your pain! Without the three picowrimo sessions in each year I'd probably have forgotten how to write entirely.
