Hello to all members, passers-by, curious onlookers, and shy lurkers, and welcome to our regular daily check-in post. Just leave a comment below to let us know how your current projects are progressing, or even if they're not.

Checking in is NOT compulsory, check in as often or as seldom as you want, this community isn't about pressure it's about encouragement, motivation, and support. Crafting is meant to be fun, and what's more fun than sharing achievements and seeing the wonderful things everyone else is creating?

There may also occasionally be questions, but again you don't have to answer them, they're just a way of getting to know each other a bit better.

This Week's Question: Who do you most enjoy making things for: family, friends, yourself, a special someone?

If anyone has any questions of their own about the community, or suggestions for tags, questions to be asked on the check-in posts, or if anyone is interested in playing check-in host for a week here on the community, which would entail putting up the daily check-in posts and responding to comments, go to the Questions & Suggestions post and leave a comment.

I now declare this Check-In OPEN!

Fantastic! (I mean the progress, not the fact that your team has lost...)

The latter of which is definitely better for knitting, I guess. *g*
But taking a break would do you a wealth of good.

I've glued together all 8 page bases and even worked a bit on the gate cards for Page 1. Nothing fancy, just drawing contours and using the corner punch on them and suchlike, but still progress.

I also got the unexpected inspiration to write a tiny bit; working on remodelling an old idea so that it would fit into the new concept. Looking at what I've done I'm nurturing tentative hopes that it might actually work!

God, I hope so! I've been wrestling with this concept since 2007!

I was thinking about this. And I think... I think I just like making things I like making. Sometimes I make a thing and then I'm done, and it really wasn't for anyone and I don't know what to do with it.

Is that weird?

You can always send over a few in a simple letter; they are flat enough for that, I think. And our pupils love owls for some reason, so they might actually sell over here... at least a few of them. *g*

Oh yes, that would be a problem indeed. Ah, well, it was just an idea.

Not weird, I'm exactly the same way! I make a LOT of things just for the sake of making them.

So that work I put into the stocking the other day? One hour and fifteen minutes of work? Completely ripped back the next day, ARGH. I was getting near the decreases for the top of the "foot" of the stocking back, when I decided to check the dimensions of the back against the front, and it was coming out much too large. GRR ARGH. So I started over, this time going towards measurements and ignoring the stitch count as written in the pattern. It's coming out better. I'm not exactly sure what the problem is besides a possible gauge change and an incorrect stitch count on the front, but I thought I was just one stitch off on the front, not a bunch. I guess I should have counted stitches more when doing the front but I didn't think of it.

Today I bought felt and small pom-poms for those aspects of the stockings, but otherwise the stockings are on hold while they think about what they've done to me. Instead, I knit on a double-knit blanket square and a doll today, both of which are for Nerdopolis challenges. I'd be further along on the doll except I had to wait for safety eyes to arrive; got the shipping notice today that they should be coming Wednesday. The goal is to have the even rounds of the head done for Wed so I can put the eyes in right when they come, then finish the neck and shoulders before Stitch Club on Thursday. Then I'll bring the doll to Stitch Club for the boring stockinette section of the body.

A knitted doll sounds awesome!
