Happy New Year!
Hello to all members, passers-by, curious onlookers, and shy lurkers, and welcome to our regular daily check-in post. Just leave a comment below to let us know how your current projects are progressing, or even if they're not.
Checking in is NOT compulsory, check in as often or as seldom as you want, this community isn't about pressure it's about encouragement, motivation, and support. Crafting is meant to be fun, and what's more fun than sharing achievements and seeing the wonderful things everyone else is creating?
There may also occasionally be questions, but again you don't have to answer them, they're just a way of getting to know each other a bit better.
This Week's Question: Do you have any crafting resolutions for 2024?
If anyone has any questions of their own about the community, or suggestions for tags, questions to be asked on the check-in posts, or if anyone is interested in playing check-in host for a week here on the community, which would entail putting up the daily check-in posts and responding to comments, go to the Questions & Suggestions post and leave a comment.
I now declare this Check-In OPEN!

My crafting goals this year:
Knit at least one sweater.
Finish the arm warmers that have been knitted.
Sew up the last sweater I made because it's been lurking unfinished since early last year, or possibly late the year before that o_O
Make some small felt toys for Halloween.
Maybe make some simple Christmas cards.
Do at least one cross stitch project. I have one picked out that I want to stitch for a friend.

I don't have any crafting *resolutions* this year, but I do have goals:
* Finish Rebel Ripple for niece by May 15th
* Finish Nordic Stripes for nephew by May 15th
* Do poinsettias for mom and younger sister, hopefully sooner rather than later
* Hopefully finish Central Park Hoodie for ME by spring
* Hopefully finish the knit t-shirt for ME by summer
* Finish my commissions in a timely manner
That's a LOT. And yes, I am taking some commissions this year. Not too enthused about it NOW, but I agreed to it back in November. Luckily, they are Christmas stockings so aren't in a hurry, but still: it's going to be a slog.
I plan to combat the slog by rotating projects. I won't have the yarn for starting the commissions until Thursday at the earliest, so until then I'll work on other projects.
Big goal this year: acquire a crafting icon, for use here and in my journal. This current icon isn't too bad, but I would like to transition away from it for Crafting, and use it just for Working posts. I'm not too great at making icons though... but perhaps I will try to make one anyway.

Well done for progress on the blanket, hope you manage to get lots more crafting done today.
Good luck with the icon! I'm not good at making them either. I can crop a picture, but anything more complicated than that and I'm lost.

I also have a bracelet pattern with crocheting thread and crafting beads I want to try.

Have fun with the poncho. Hope you find suitable patterns for your fancy wool.
The bracelet sounds fun.

* Bow Tie Keyhole Scarf
* Anthro Inspired Scarflet
Both are free patterns!
If you only crochet: there are crochet patterns for keyhole scarfs as well! Here's a Ravelry search for patterns (need to be signed in to Ravelry to see the results

- to finish the two quiet books in progress;
- to make two (paper) baby books for colleagues who are expecting a little son and a little granddaughter, respectively;
- picking up paper embroidery early on, so that I wouldn't be so overworked when the next Christmas time comes.
That said, I worked a tiny bit on the songbook today; perhaps an hour or so, in several parts.

The songbook seems to be coming along nicely.

I don't know that I necessarily have resolutions, but I have a queue, which is new for me: this infinity scarf needs finishing first, then a baby blanket, then another scarf, then my beach cover-up (hopefully in time for summer). Excited to see what else gets added to the queue this year!

Good luck working through your queue!

Craft resolutions for this year include working on projects with yarn/other supplies I already have. I got some embroidery supplies last year & I haven't done any embroidery or sewing. I think I need to find a good resource or project to learn from since this is a new craft for me.
I would also like to repair some handknits so they are wearable again esp my partner's robe.

Good luck *\o/*

Very sensible plan. I hope you can find what you need to learn.
Good luck with the repairs.

As for crafting resolutions, basically, I want to do some serious stash busting. I know that generally refers to yarn related crafts, but I am applying it to all my craft supplies here.

Best of luck stash busting!

Thanks!

Stash busting should apply to all crafts, because they all result in stashes of supplies that can get too big. Good luck!

As far as I am concerned, it does, but people have gotten gatekeepy with the term before. Thanks!
