Check-In Post December 17th 2023

Hello to all members, passers-by, curious onlookers, and shy lurkers, and welcome to our regular daily check-in post. Just leave a comment below to let us know how your current projects are progressing, or even if they're not.

Checking in is NOT compulsory, check in as often or as seldom as you want, this community isn't about pressure it's about encouragement, motivation, and support. Crafting is meant to be fun, and what's more fun than sharing achievements and seeing the wonderful things everyone else is creating?

There may also occasionally be questions, but again you don't have to answer them, they're just a way of getting to know each other a bit better.

Special Announcement! Starting tomorrow, [personal profile] falkner will be our host for the week!

If anyone has any questions of their own about the community, or suggestions for tags, questions to be asked on the check-in posts, or if anyone is interested in playing check-in host for a week here on the community, which would entail putting up the daily check-in posts and responding to comments, go to the Questions & Suggestions post and leave a comment.

I now declare this Check-In OPEN!

Knowing you, it will be six new pairs of arm warmers. *g*

I did some minor crafting in the morning: worked on the front page of the Christmas quiet book. It won't be finished by Christmas, but I enjoy working on it, and at least I'll already have a gift for next Christmas, when I finish it, oh, around Easter or so. *g*

I think I figured out how to get Santa down the chimney; let's hope it works, too! I also added a rocking horse to the general picture and managed to make one of the decorative stars even better looking, so I am proud of myself.

It sounds neat, will be interested to see it (one day).

I will definitely post a pic when it's done. You know how much I like to show off my work. *g*

Started knitting the little blanket for my cat yesterday. It shouldn't take too long but it's too big for my needles so my hands cramp and I can't work on it for too long at a time. Hopefully my floofer likes it!

I'm sure kitty will love it!

Too big for needles... do you mean too many stitches to fit comfortably? Yeah, that can be annoying. It's one of the reasons I mostly use circular needles these days.

I always use circulars, but this yarn is bigger than what I usually use by a lot, and I didn't want to splurge on circulars for one project... so I got some crappy straight needles and they are kind short. I miss circulars!

I will try!

Since she liked the other blanket so much, only fair she gets one of her own. :)

Yes, I think she will like her cat sized one! I forgot that she is a large girl so I think I need to buy a second skein of yarn xD

Yesterday was mostly a wash: I only got one petal done. Oof.

Today so far: made two more Petal Cs, which finishes them up, and one Petal B.

Still to go:
* Four Petal Bs
* Two and a half Petal As
* At least four leaves, but hoping for six

Unfortunately, this is feeling very much like a slog, and I just woke up from an hour and a half "don't wanna!" nap. But I will persist! I must persist! So back I go to it.

And hopefully tomorrow will not feel like a slog.

I tried the snowflake pattern with double crochet instead of trebles, and I like it more. Have made 3 today.

I worked on my Daybreak shawl for a few rows. I got 3 rows out of a 4 pattern repeat done. The rows are around 180 sts long so even getting 1 done takes a while. I am at the stripes and I'm enjoying it.

3 is great progress at that size. Getting to the striped part is always more fun, good!
