Check-In Post December 4th 2023
Hello to all members, passers-by, curious onlookers, and shy lurkers, and welcome to our regular daily check-in post. Just leave a comment below to let us know how your current projects are progressing, or even if they're not.
Checking in is NOT compulsory, check in as often or as seldom as you want, this community isn't about pressure it's about encouragement, motivation, and support. Crafting is meant to be fun, and what's more fun than sharing achievements and seeing the wonderful things everyone else is creating?
There may also occasionally be questions, but again you don't have to answer them, they're just a way of getting to know each other a bit better.
Today's Question: No question today.
If anyone has any questions of their own about the community, or suggestions for tags, questions to be asked on the check-in posts, or if anyone is interested in playing check-in host for a week here on the community, which would entail putting up the daily check-in posts and responding to comments, go to the Questions & Suggestions post and leave a comment.
I now declare this Check-In OPEN!

In the afternoon I made another Christmas garland of tinfoil baubles and another surprise box. And I decorated yesterday's biscuits; well, the ones that needed to be decorated. With that, I'm done baking till Thursday, so I can turn my attention towards my Christmas quiet book for the next two days.

So many projects, not enough time
Tonight I mended my son's knitted beanie for the umpteenth time. Now, I knit this for him when he was 1.5, and I did it at such a size that at 5 years old he can still wear it. But it's seen a lot of mileage in those intervening years. I think it's finally time to knit him a new one. Uh... after I finish the jumper and the two baby blankets, I guess! I think he can limp through with this tatty hat a couple of more months.
I have new wellie ankle boots that I love, but they rub at the back of my (chunky) calves. I want to knit either wellie warmers or tall socks to create a barrier. But given I have a long knitting queue ahead of me, I'm just going to buy myself a few pairs of knee high socks and hope that by next winter I'll have knit up a few of my own :)

That hat has seen some service! I'm sure a new one will get well-used too, once you get around to it.
Wherever do you get knee-high ladies socks? Whenever I've tried to buy socks for myself I've only been able to get ankle socks.
Re: So many projects, not enough time
Still debating on the other one, no clear and obvious palette inspiration for them yet.

What a well made hat!
Sounds very sensible.

My friend made sure I got my fandomtrees sign up done though.
I also finished knitting and sewed up the slipper. It's the right length and it is a slipper, but it's very... Wacked out in multiple ways. I set it aside, got a different size of needles, did a test swatch (that is still slightly off, but as close as I'm going to get), and cast on a new slipper. Wish me luck.

Yay for finishing a slipper? Good luck with the next attempt.

Thanks. The current one kind of defies proper description.
