Checking in is NOT compulsory, check in as often or as seldom as you want, this community isn't about pressure it's about encouragement, motivation, and support. Crafting is meant to be fun, and what's more fun than sharing achievements and seeing the wonderful things everyone else is creating?

There may also occasionally be questions, but again you don't have to answer them, they're just a way of getting to know each other a bit better.

Still no crafting, but I'll have to do something soon, and fast. Last time I went out, I bought a Christmas card for my friend. Today, I realised that his birthday is in less than two weeks and I didn't get a birthday card, so now I'll have to make one.

I also remembered my nephew and brother-in-law both have birthdays at the beginning of December, so I had to dig their cards out (thankfully already had them) and dash to the post-box on the corner. It was very frosty and slippery out, but I got there and back in one piece. I'm always thankful it's so close, less than a minute's walk each way on a good day. Today took longer because I stopped on the way back to talk to a neighbour.

We had snow in the morning and are having rain all the day, so I'm glad I won't have to leave the house tomorrow.

Thanks. I walked very carefully and took small steps. That's the safest way on slippery ground.

We have FIVE family birthdays in December! (older sister, nephew #3, younger sister, younger niece, nephew #1. Nephew #2's birthday is in January). So yeah, it's usually busy for us, too. Through in Christmas and well, I used to love December *because* of Christmas but the older I get, the more "bah, humbug" I am. Good luck on your card making!

That's a lot of December birthdays, I'm thankful I only have three! Used to be four when Dad was still here.

Bah, humbug is my response to Christmas these days too. I send cards, but that's about it. Everything else is too much work.

The snow is all melting here. It's supposed to rain and be above freezing in the night so may get rid of it entirely.

I worked a bit on the front page of the Christmas felt book. All important ingredients are firmly sewn on and I've done most of the decoration, too. I hope I'll find a quiet hour or two tomorrow to finish the whole thing. I'm this close, but the minute details are always time-consuming.

Well done with the projects you've made, great idea for the canary, I'm sure it will be appreciated. The butterfly is lovely, and the mitt pattern is amazing.

Today I mixed up two batches of cookies dough (Russian tea cakes and brown sugar cookies) to bake later. In-laws coming sometime Sunday.

I've done a couple rows on placemat #3 but I'm tired from all the kitchen stuff. May switch to a book.

I have started my next project, a Daybreak shawl. I did the cast on, set up rows & first pattern repeat the other day. Today I did another pattern repeat.

The shawl is still in the so tiny I'm wondering why there is such a huge needle needed for it phase. But it will grow. It's nice to not have a huge cast on to count and deal with.

That's the trouble with shawls - you either start with a ridiculous number of stitches, or finish with so many there's barely room for them on the needle and casting off takes forever. Good luck!
