Checking in is NOT compulsory, check in as often or as seldom as you want, this community isn't about pressure it's about encouragement, motivation, and support. Crafting is meant to be fun, and what's more fun than sharing achievements and seeing the wonderful things everyone else is creating?

There may also occasionally be questions, but again you don't have to answer them, they're just a way of getting to know each other a bit better.

No crafting again today. One day I'll find some time again, but I squished one of my fingers bringing in a couple of logs, one slipped and my finger got caught between them, so that's sore =(

I've promised pictures of the latest crafty stuff, haven't I? Well, I made a group photo again.



Left and right are two of the ribbon bows with paper flower background. In the back are the Kandis sticks (meant to sweeten tea, originally, but they'll work well enough as lollies) and in the front the little glitter bottles.

Also, I've made another surprise box today.

Small children like brightly coloured things, so I hope these will sell well among the lower primary pupils. :)

started the winter headband but the yarn i chose doesn't show any of the details of the pattern >:c might frog and restart with something else, gotta check my stash and see what spare bits i have lying around that could work...

Hi! Long time, no see, I think. Honestly, it has been a shitty day, in a shitty week, of a shitty month, in a shitty year. (Apologies for the language.) One of the more recent kicks in the teeth being that my cat passed away very early Saturday morning. I am completely petless for the first time in 17ish years and there are a lot of feelings that go with that.

I know checking in here isn't mandatory, but it adds a bit of something good to my day, even the bad ones, and everything feels a bit off when I don't for too long.

All that being said, I have done some crafting. My mother finally picked out a yarn for my dad's slippers, so I've put the hats aside and have been trying to speed run knitting them (and adjusting the pattern to fit him). I'm about halfway through one.

Lynne was out of town with family for Thanksgiving and had me feed her cats while she was gone. I painted her a little watercolor turkey and baked her a small plate of brownies as a surprise. Thankfully, her son has come to live with her and be her 24 hour caregiver now.

During one of my mother's "must do all the things to avoid being home" adventures, we found a set of felting needles and a bag of stitch holders at the thrift store and I found an assortment of plaid fabric bundles at the dollar store.

So sorry for your loss *hugs* It's hard to lose a much-loved pet. They're family.

I hope Lynne liked her surprises. Good on her son for being there to care for her.

Yay for crafting goodies. It's always fun to find something useful at a good price. Any ideas what you'll do with the plaid fabric?

Indeed :) I'm not sure. I was going to make some Supernatural themed drawstring bags, but I actually already have the fabric for those. It's a style of pattern I reach for often though, so I am sure they will get used for something.

Have you done a lot of felting earlier on? I tried it once and found it fun but never got another chance. My fault, actually, our arts teacher would happily let me work with the pupils, but there is never enough time... *sigh*

I haven't. I was gifted a kit to try it out, but I've been afraid of starting as it only came with one needle and I am terrified of breaking it, as there was nowhere to get a replacement if I did. Ah, I'm glad you enjoyed it and sorry you haven't gotten another chance to do it.
