Check-In Post November 25th 2023
Hello to all members, passers-by, curious onlookers, and shy lurkers, and welcome to our regular daily check-in post. Just leave a comment below to let us know how your current projects are progressing, or even if they're not.
Checking in is NOT compulsory, check in as often or as seldom as you want, this community isn't about pressure it's about encouragement, motivation, and support. Crafting is meant to be fun, and what's more fun than sharing achievements and seeing the wonderful things everyone else is creating?
There may also occasionally be questions, but again you don't have to answer them, they're just a way of getting to know each other a bit better.
Today's Question: No question today.
If anyone has any questions of their own about the community, or suggestions for tags, questions to be asked on the check-in posts, or if anyone is interested in playing check-in host for a week here on the community, which would entail putting up the daily check-in posts and responding to comments, go to the Questions & Suggestions post and leave a comment.
I now declare this Check-In OPEN!

NOT DALEKS, ARM WARMERS! This is what happens when I try to post something while watching a Doctor Who documentary. I'm dying laughing here! I already posted the check-in to my journal instead of the community, and now I'm typing what I'm hearing *headdesk*

Although the idea of 40 Daleks on one multi-coloured arm warmer sounds good, too.

But now I want a knitted Dalek... =(

The headband looks brilliant! I'm not normally a fan of garter stitch, but it's really effective on this design, and I love the twist.

I really like that headband pattern, I think that's a good idea.

Still managing a few blanket squares on my morning and nightly train commute so hopefully the pile will slowly grow.
Started knitting up another scarf to see whether the two balls I bought a little while ago would be enough. Sadly no. One ball all knitted up will be way too short. I have a client meeting in the city on Tuesday so might be able to swing by the craft shop in town "on my way back" and see if they still have one more ball of the same wool, plus another in blue from the other batch I bought. From now on I'm always buying one more ball than I think I'll need just in case. If not I can always buy it from them online but it's way more expensive when you add on $10 postage. Just paranoid that if I don't get it now they won't stock it again since we're coming into summer. Urgh.
Also forced myself to bake a hummingbird cake since I'd gone out of my way last week to buy eggs. Usually I just borrow one or two when I need them from mum rather than buy a whole box for myself. Hopefully it turned out okay. Haven't baked much in my oven since moving in two years ago as I tend to bake with mum when I visit her. Hopefully it's cooked through!

I love hummingbird cake! I hope yours turned out well.

Well done on the blanket, at least the commute is good for something.
Good luck with your cake, hope it turns out perfect!

Isn't it annoying that you always, *always* run out of material just before the end?
