Checking in is NOT compulsory, check in as often or as seldom as you want, this community isn't about pressure it's about encouragement, motivation, and support. Crafting is meant to be fun, and what's more fun than sharing achievements and seeing the wonderful things everyone else is creating?

There may also occasionally be questions, but again you don't have to answer them, they're just a way of getting to know each other a bit better.

Still no actual crafting, today got eaten up by laundry, physio exercises, and writing.


Looks like the winner of the sweater vote is the lacy diamonds, but I'd welcome suggestions for what colour I should use when I do the other pattern. Because I will make it at some point.

Errr... which one was the lacy diamonds again? The one on the left or the one on the right? Sorry, I don't understand knitspeak. *hides in shame*

The one on the left. It's not knitspeak, no technical terms in there at all, it's just a basic description of what it looks like to most people, a diamond pattern.

*grins* I'm a sucker for diamond patterns so I see them everywhere.

Since the other has little open stitches, I'd consider what shirts you're wearing under it with the sweater color choice. Unless they are all white. :D

To be honest, I pick the shirt to wear with the sweater. If I want to wear a certain sweater, I go through my shirts to find which work with it. I find a black shirt can look quite striking under something with holes. White also works of course, and light blue goes well under certain colours

I've filled, iced and decorated all the biscuits baked yesterday. They are pretty, so I feel rather crafty today. ;))

I had to! The first part of next week will be full of chores, so I won't have the time.

I feel so bad about not checking in for so long - our trip was over a month ago, and I didn't finish the beach cover-up in time, and I just haven't felt up to getting back into it. That combined with the new full-time job has just left me with absolutely no time. But by way of a small crafting update, I took my yarn scraps in to school today so my students could use them to tie in bows around the candles we're making for the Christmas fair.

I really want to finish the cover-up after all, but I'm also thinking of ordering some yarn for a scarf to noodle away at - I fear if I do that, I'll just keep procrastinating on the cover-up, though. I'm actually fairly close to finished! So I'm just hoping I can motivate myself to do it.

Yay for new job, and for finding a good use for yarn scraps. Hope the Christmas Fair goes well!

Cheering you on to finish the cover up! I'm going to be starting a new sweater soon, so maybe we can encourage each other to get on with our respective projects. Maybe order the scarf yarn anyway though, and reward yourself with a couple of easy scarf rows for every couple of cover-up rows. Rewards are a good way to motivate yourself for getting things done.

That sounds like a good plan - I'll be cheering you on to finish the sweater! The new yarn will have to wait for next paycheck, but that gives me a few weeks to get some work done on the cover-up and then I can really reward myself with the scarf.

Thanks, the knitting part is fine it's the sewing up at the end that gets to me. Haven't sewn up the last one I made yet!

The scarf sounds like a suitable reward after the effort with the cover-up. You can do it!

New jobs take a lot of attention. Glad it is going well.

Since it's close to done, I would probably want to finish the cover up. Think how far ahead you are now for using it next summer. :)

Expecting snow tomorrow, so I spent a chunk of the morning working on leaves in the yard. Now I'm under blankets with the dog, going back and forth between a book and my placement project.

Ugh, snow! I hope you don't get much.

Sometimes snuggling under a blanket with a book is the best reward after working outside in the cold. Enjoy!
