Hello to all members, passers-by, curious onlookers, and shy lurkers, and welcome to our regular daily check-in post. Just leave a comment below to let us know how your current projects are progressing, or even if they're not.

Checking in is NOT compulsory, check in as often or as seldom as you want, this community isn't about pressure it's about encouragement, motivation, and support. Crafting is meant to be fun, and what's more fun than sharing achievements and seeing the wonderful things everyone else is creating?

There may also occasionally be questions, but again you don't have to answer them, they're just a way of getting to know each other a bit better.

Today's Question: No question today.

If anyone has any questions of their own about the community, or suggestions for tags, questions to be asked on the check-in posts, or if anyone is interested in playing check-in host for a week here on the community, which would entail putting up the daily check-in posts and responding to comments, go to the Questions & Suggestions post and leave a comment.

I now declare this Check-In OPEN!

That's a good amount. TV to the crafting rescue!

I realized last night that part of my problem getting to crochet is I've made my chair uncomfortable with the placement of a laundry drying rack. (Facepalm)

Good work!

Long live the telly as crafting aid! *g*

I actually finished the first placemat just a bit ago. I shouldn't have taken so long to work on them, but there has been a lot of outdoor tasks that use up a bunch of energy.

Yesterday and early this morning I worked on mulching leaves. It was hard, but the first drifts of leaves are knocked back to a reasonable amount AND my flowerbeds are nearly entirely mulched for the winter.

Yay on both finishing a placemat and getting the garden ready for winter!

Very nice! Excellent use of those leaves.

I've made many hearts/baskets ornaments today, like these

They are!

Those are always cute. Many colors or red and white?

I used decorative paper, in different colours and patterns. Just red and white is more associated with Denmark (because of their flag).

Well done :)

Thank you!

Those are very pretty indeed. Long ago, back in my forgotten youth, I tried my hands on them, too, but was too impatient for making a good job. Go you for mastering the task!

It probably helps that I have seen these made from a young age and learned to do it young too. I do not trouble myself with more than a braiding pattern through.

Nothing today, but I finished that last row of the hat I was working on and cast off. Then I immediately cast on hat number 2. I need the left over yarn from trio of hats I'm doing for another project, so I'm trying to get through knitting up the bodies. I'll sew them up later.

Thanks. I don't remember most of the color names, but all of them are variegated yarns that take long, subtle transitions from very light versions of the color to very deep to back to light, etc. One is called green apple, which feels pretty apt. One is grey and it never quite hits dark enough that you'd want to call it black and on the light end, it gets pretty light, but not so light you'd consider it off white. The other is this odd shade of blue that is extremely blue in some lighting, but very lilac/purple range in others, even within my own house. The lamps on either end of the couch are different types and if I sit at one end, I'm knitting something blue and it's purple at the other end. I've never had something change that drastically in color between them before.

That's it, from now on, it's the alien yarn :D I definitely will, especially as these are all yarns from my stash. The green is leftover from a scarf and a bag (both gifts), the grey from a shawl I made for myself, and the alien yarn from that wonky, long, Christmas tree shaped shawl I made not too long ago.

Yes!
Monday, November 20th, 2023 06:51 pm (UTC)
Three hats! That's impressive!
Monday, November 20th, 2023 11:19 pm (UTC)
Thanks! It's the last project assignment in this section of the learning how to knit book I am working through. It's basically one hat pattern done three different ways - an envelop hat, an envelop hat with tassels, and an envelop hat with ties to close the top.

That is: I baked four different sorts of biscuits. Filling and decorating is coming up, soon; there was really no time left for that part.

I'm up to eight altogether - or will be, once these are decorated. But Mum promised to help. I've entrusted the difficult task of sprinkling the Ischler with chopped pistachios to her. *g*
