Hello to all members, passers-by, curious onlookers, and shy lurkers, and welcome to our regular daily check-in post. Just leave a comment below to let us know how your current projects are progressing, or even if they're not.

Checking in is NOT compulsory, check in as often or as seldom as you want, this community isn't about pressure it's about encouragement, motivation, and support. Crafting is meant to be fun, and what's more fun than sharing achievements and seeing the wonderful things everyone else is creating?

There may also occasionally be questions, but again you don't have to answer them, they're just a way of getting to know each other a bit better.

Today's Question: No question today.

If anyone has any questions of their own about the community, or suggestions for tags, questions to be asked on the check-in posts, or if anyone is interested in playing check-in host for a week here on the community, which would entail putting up the daily check-in posts and responding to comments, go to the Questions & Suggestions post and leave a comment.

I now declare this Check-In OPEN!

i have enough yarn for my vertical stripes to be thick enough!! i finished my first skein and eyeballed the thickness and had a big sigh of relief because one all five stripes are done it will definitely be a thick enough scarf, now i don't have to risk different dye lots! huzzah. now just to keep knitting 300+ stitch rows LOL

Once again, so far behind, but with a new laptop I can take to work, I can hopefully do a bit of a catch up with everyone. I have many, many back posts to add, but it's nice to see everyone again! I've been working on a bunch of things, this week a red silk kirtle, and lots of book promo and getting ready for a rental house inspection which would be easier if I didn't have a teenager in the house! haha. She's been helping out with a heap of medieval projects though. Tomorrow's craft project is to make a circlet that I made a bit smaller, so there will be pics of that!

Welcome back!

Sewing together 5" squares, light and dark. Take two, flip one through 180degrees, sew together to make 2x2 blocks, dovetailing seams. Sew the 2x2s together to make 4x4s and the 4x4s to make 8x8s.

It's gonna be a backing. And the quilter is going to be all "why don't you make another quilt from it"? Because I have TOO MANY QUILTS ALREADY and I don't need more quilts that I have to angst about backings. JUST QUILT IT PLEASE.

I really admire you for this! Totally get the.. Why Don't You Just Do Another One thing. People don't always understand.

Oh do they ever NOT UNDERSTAND!

Someday, I shall ask "is this the face of a woman with Not Enough Quilts? Is it? Because I assure you in the event that you are mistakenly nodding your head, IT IS NOT."

*facepalm*

I called out of work today cuz I wasnt feeling well. I ended up working on my cowl while watching TV. I ripped out the seed stitch pattern I was working on as it was too small and not really working with the yarn. Now I'm making the cowl a bit bigger and with a different pattern. Ribbed on the bottom & with a rick rib lace pattern for the body. I've finally gotten past the first few rows of the lace and gotten the feel of it. I quite like how it looks so far.

Sound really nice and yay for getting past the lace!

It's a nice feeling to pull something apart and put it back together only better, isn't it!

Hurray for getting past the lace!

Hi, new to the site, please let me know if I'm doing it wrong.

Just a few rows on a swatch/sampler today in between this and that (giving a presentation tomorrow and trying not to freak out). The November Knitting Urge sniped me a few days ago so I've got some fingering weight wool from the stash on size 2 needles to get the gauge details for socks.

There is no doing it wrong.

A few rows is progress! HUZZAH!

Good luck with the presentation.

Thanks! The presentation went alright -- my brain only went blank a little here and there.

I actually haven't knitted socks before, hoping it turns out that the parts that are basically just going straight up a tube are really conducive to zoning out.

I'm one of those multi-crafters -- since turning up with carpal tunnel I mostly crochet, bc ergonomic knitting needles don't seem to be invented yet, though I learned knitting first. Also spin a bit. I knitted a scarf a few years back when a previous November Knitting Urge hit, and I feel like I'm forgetting something in between.
