Check-In Post February 15th 2021

Hello to all members, and welcome to our regular daily check-in post. Just leave a comment below to let us know how your current projects are progressing, or even if they're not.

Checking in is NOT compulsory, check in as often or as seldom as you want, this community isn't about pressure it's about encouragement, motivation, and support. Crafting is meant to be fun, and what's more fun than sharing achievements and seeing the wonderful things everyone else is creating?

There may also occasionally be questions, but again you don't have to answer them, they're just a way of getting to know each other a bit better.

Today's Question: No question today.

If anyone has any questions of their own about the community, or suggestions for tags, questions to be asked on the check-in posts, or if anyone is interested in playing check-in host for a week here on the community, which would entail putting up the daily check-in posts and responding to comments, go to the Questions & Suggestions post and leave a comment.

I now declare this Check-In OPEN!

People who don't craft really don't understand how although it required attention, it's also a wonderful way to chill and you get the joy of making things too!

Why is it that one always makes a mistake at the beginning of a row and doesn't realise until reaching the end?

And on another matter my owl has an eye.

Quite. And it takes longer to undo than to knit.

Undoing is a real exercise in tears before bedtime. I HATE unpicking.

I did a knitting drabble about Miss Marple for International Fanworks Day and thought the knitters here might appreciate.

I learn by doing, so learning what not to do is pretty helpful.

I know a couple of people were wanting to buy the same set but weren't sure about attaching everything, so hopefully the two posts will be useful one way or another.

The people who sell the set have advice for what to do, but some of us were not sure if it would be a secure enough fixing and a few of us also thought a rove would be more accurate and definitely needed. But no.

The belt looks great and I love the little story that goes with along it. I've often felt similar pains and heartache, mostly in jewellery making, because it's just one of those crafts where it's often hard to undo something that hasn't worked (like stuffing up the ends with the clasps and lobsters when all the beadwork on the wire is already crimped in place.
It's always nice to hear (in a good way) that other people suffer the same setbacks and frustrations with the creative process, especially when you think you've got it all preplanned out to avoid that sort of thing!

I used to keep that kind of thing to myself but one day I shared a particularly awful mistake I'd made and I was overwhelmed with others sharing their most terrible sewing disasters including a lady I'd looked up to for years who happily informed me she made the same left leg of an outfit four times. Four. Times. We all bonded, and it was nice to see how much people appreciated me being honest about making mistakes. They said it made them feel less bad about their own mistakes and it encouraged them to not give up and just keep trying.
I expected to be laughed at for being stupid, but all I got was encouragement. :)
