Checking in is NOT compulsory, check in as often or as seldom as you want, this community isn't about pressure it's about encouragement, motivation, and support. Crafting is meant to be fun, and what's more fun than sharing achievements and seeing the wonderful things everyone else is creating?

There may also occasionally be questions, but again you don't have to answer them, they're just a way of getting to know each other a bit better.

Despite the rain holding off, last night didn't turn out as well as I'd hoped. Trick or Treaters were not as abundant as in previous years, I even had a couple who were only interested in candy =(


Then it took nearly two hours to take enough of my Halloween Grotto down that I could close the garage door, and this morning I spent another 90 minutes at least taking the rest down. I still need to pack away all the lights and put the meeces, spiders, and other things back in their boxes until next year, but I'm worn out and I have a headache, so all that will have to wait.

I'm sorry for your disappointment! *hugs* It seems to be a general tendency this year: other people have complained about the same thing. Have a rest, you've done enough for one day.

Good to know it's not just be, but sad that others have had the same disappointment.

Seems I wasn't the only one to see a downturn. One of the dads who came said he'd only had a couple of Trick or Treaters visit him. I did get some lovely people though.

This year we got more but last year was our slim year--only 3 groups total. I think it fluctuates a lot. Does sound exhausting taking everything down and putting it up.

It was, I still haven't recovered, and I still have so much to pack away. Also Still have WAY too much candy, only got rid of 18 out of 35 candy bags that I'd made up. I can easily get rid of 8 of the leftovers, not sure what to do with the rest.

I spent my precious creative hour in the morning with writing - yay! - but I also worked a bit on the small pillow cases. If everything goes according to plan, my friend will come tomorrow and bring some dried lavender with her. *fingers crossed*

Lavender but no writing... Well, that's sort of 50% of what you were hoping for. Hopefully the writing will happen more often than not this month.

Today I made a granny square and sewed it to the inside of a cardigan to be a pocket. I'm planning to work on mending a pair of pajama pants after I do dishes.

Some Hallowe'en cards I sent.



I try to pick up craft kits that I think would interest me and my boys when I come across them so I got two today at Target. One is a gingerbread soccer/football stadium (!!) and the other are a trio of paper stars that come with LED lights for hanging, both tucked away in the 'December/Xmas' bag.

Yeah, I swore off gingerbread houses after many frustrating tries but this looked like it might not be so bad logistically and it is relevant to my kids' interest.

Just sewed a bunch of HSTs.

Plans for backings. (I've given up on bindings. ARGH.)

What are HSTs?

Just spread the binding out, do one occasionally, and they'll get done in the end. Some tasks are just so boring.

I'm going to guess that's a quilting thing, sounds like you made a lot of progress despite bindings.

It was a weird start to the month. I'm still tired & mush brained. Work was unnecessarily stressful. And my dad texted early enough that he knew I wasn't awake yet, hoping I would go to the neighbors and get tomatoes for him. (Which I did, but after I was done with everything else & I haven't delivered them to him yet.)

Crafting wise, I bought some yarn for a shawl a friend asked me to make and I knitted on my hat for a little bit.

Somehow, I also remembered to do 10 minutes of writing for Miserable Fucks November Social at ushobwri and actually checked in. One day down, 29 to go. For writing, I worked on the next installment of the "Bruce Wayne & Wednesday Addams are childhood neighbors" series.

Hope your dad will be happy with the tomatoes when he gets them, and that work will be less stressful.
