Checking in is NOT compulsory, check in as often or as seldom as you want, this community isn't about pressure it's about encouragement, motivation, and support. Crafting is meant to be fun, and what's more fun than sharing achievements and seeing the wonderful things everyone else is creating?

There may also occasionally be questions, but again you don't have to answer them, they're just a way of getting to know each other a bit better.

Not feeling great today, but I've made progress on the cross stitch card. The thin leaves are finished, I've stitched a spray of blue... leaves or flowers, not sure which they are, and the stem of a lily bud. All that's left are the bud itself and a spray of orange and yellow somethings, plus the lily anthers and the backstitch. Since the backstitch on the lily is the same colour as the anthers, I'll do all that stitching together.

Well, a cold can be very unpleasant. One is just sick enough to feel like crap but not sick enough to justify a bit of laziness. ;))

As promised, a group photo of the felt Christmas baubles I've made in the last few days. I think they are quite pretty, but I'm biased, of course. ;))



In the meantime I've gone on to the mini sewing kits. Those include a great many different phases; right now, I've brought all 12 of them (yes, they've spawned 3 more while I wasn't looking!) to Phase 1: all parts cut out and the inner pockets are stitched on. I've even sewn on the needle-holder stripes and made the lashes they'll close with for 3 of them, which would be Phase 2; I'll continue with that on the other 9.

I'm trying my best to cram as much crafting into October as I can. I'm planning to try doing some writing in picowrimo month, and the short morning hours aren't enough for both activities.

Feeling horrible today, not entirely sure why.

After the weekly grocery shopping, we went by the yarn store to get the proper sized needles for the decorative web I want to knit and pick out some yarn for the mitt-athon. Turns out they are closed until October 21st because the owners are in Europe.

I decided to try to knit the web on a set of needles I have, even though they are a bit short. It didn't go well. After the 4th restart, I decided to set it aside for now. It's hard to see how things are going wrong.

Instead, I decided to work on some mittens for the mitt-athon with some yarn on hand and see how it goes. I'm still knitting the gauge swatch. The pattern has this chart that uses the number of stitches per inch on your swatch and a measurement on your hand to figure out how many stitches to cast on. And I can't exactly start without knowing how many stitches to cast on.

And the landline isn't working again. I have a theory of what's wrong this time, but I have to call customer support regardless and I am very much not looking forward to it.

Customer support on phone companies is the worst. I've been waiting almost 3 weeks to have my broadband connected so I feel your pain. I hope they sort it out quickly for you.

Thanks. This time they said it's an outage in my area. This is also the 5th problem we've had with them in less than a month. I hope your broadband gets connected soon.

I gave up and am back to using my portable hotspot hub. It just was easier.

I hope you can get the landline fixed. And good luck with the knitting projects. I bought today a small bag of tiny little knitted hats, meant as decoration; perhaps I'll make snowmen of styrofoam balls to wear them. ;))

Thanks. They said it was "an outage in my area" and that they would let us know when it is fixed. I have an inkling I will be calling them again next week. I also just got an email survey asking about my experience with the company...

The little hats on snowmen would be very adorable. :)

You'd think after having a week off work, I'd be all caught up, but no. The book arrived and it really lovely! Orders are going out already with 3 stockists already and waiting to hear back from others. Single orders are coming in, so that's nice. I've done a little sewing, but mostly adjusting one of my new, unworn silk kirtles so my niece has something to wear tomorrow to Love Your Bookshop Day. I've managed some gardening but I'm still trying to get the unit in order and find places to put everything now there's another person living in my space.
