Checking in is NOT compulsory, check in as often or as seldom as you want, this community isn't about pressure it's about encouragement, motivation, and support. Crafting is meant to be fun, and what's more fun than sharing achievements and seeing the wonderful things everyone else is creating?

There may also occasionally be questions, but again you don't have to answer them, they're just a way of getting to know each other a bit better.

No crafting for me yet today, the weather was good so I spent as much time as I could in the garden cutting back brambles and other overgrown stuff. Rain is set to return tomorrow so I wanted to make the most of the decent weather while I had it. There's been so little this summer, literally just a day once every few weeks. Having three good days in a row has been unreal.


Yesterday evening though, I finished off the yarn ends on 100 rings. Hoping to get some more done tonight. I still need to crochet around another 220 rings, but that will have to wait until I've matched the ones I've already done with some of the spiders so I have some idea of which colours I need more of.

This spider project is very detailed and complex indeed.

Yes it is. Good thing I still have a couple of months to get some of them finished!

The rings are so people can attach the spiders to their fingers?

Hook the ring over a finger, then bounce the spider on its elastic, like a yoyo, so it bounces off the palm of the hand. Keep it going as long as you can *grins*

To be honest, these rings are a but bigger than I would prefer, kids can probably get two fingers through them, but I had to use what was available.

A big step

... towards finishing the baby book for my friend Erica's second granddaughter (due somewhen is September) was the making of the book cover. I used scrapbook paper from the collection "Sweet Baby Girl" by Lexia Desing for that, and below are the results.

I did have my usual struggles with the double-sided tape (I swear those things have a will of their own!), but all in all I'm happy with the results. The back cover is quite plain; I'll take a picture when I'm finished with the book, perhaps I'll get some good idea for that by then.

Oh, how lovely! Well done!

Double-sided tape is very useful, but it can be a menace at the same time, sticking in all the wrong places, and then you can't get the backing paper off.

Add the fact that I have serious problems with straight lines in *everything* and the tape becomes a nightmare.

I don't know anyone who can create straight lines freehand.

I can't even do them with a ruler! *g*

Rulers slip, fingers get in the way, surfaces have weird lumps that make the pen or pencil go off course...

Oh, *yes*! Especially when one tries to use a metal ruler and a slicer...

Rainy day today, so the dinosaur's body ans its arms are finished and attached. Next step is the tail.

I just pin-basted the quilt! Now I have to look up some free motion quilting ideas and work it from there. Won't be happening today, but having the ideas in my head at least will give me some breathing space.
