Hello to all members, passers-by, curious onlookers, and shy lurkers, and welcome to our regular daily check-in post. Just leave a comment below to let us know how your current projects are progressing, or even if they're not.

Checking in is NOT compulsory, check in as often or as seldom as you want, this community isn't about pressure it's about encouragement, motivation, and support. Crafting is meant to be fun, and what's more fun than sharing achievements and seeing the wonderful things everyone else is creating?

There may also occasionally be questions, but again you don't have to answer them, they're just a way of getting to know each other a bit better.

I was out all morning so I've had a bit of a struggle trying to fit in all my usual writing and crafting. I did it though! Another 10 spiders are done.


I also dug out the last few spiders left over from when I first made them 20 or so years ago, and I discovered that I've been attaching the bases wrong o_O I mean, it's okay, the spiders are my own design anyway so I can attach the bases any way I want, but the way I did them first time makes spacing the legs out evenly a lot easier. I also discovered that I DID use two strands of yarn when making the legs for the first ones. Their legs are thicker. Not that it matters, they're fine either way.

Still, another 10 spiders on a busy day is great progress.

It is. I really should have looked at the old spiders first. I did look at one, but it has a black base and legs, and the stitching is in black thread so I couldn't see what I'd done. =/

It's interesting to hear how the method changed, even if it wasn't intentional. Congrats on your progress!

Thanks! The original method is definitely better and easier, though not any faster.

Interesting discovery! Do you have a goal for total number of spiders?

It was originally going to be 250, but now it's going to be 520 because that's how many I ended up cutting out. I'm up to 460. I'd already made 450 before I noticed I was doing it wrong *headdesk*

I cut out the two fabric panels for the front and back cover of the songbook. Alas, the cotton has quite a few creases, so I'll have to soak it and iron it while still wet. Gah. So annoying - but necessary. I also took out the ingredients to the baby book that needs to be finished this month. Tomorrow I'll work on the page bases - or at least I'll try.
