Check-In Post July 6th 2023

Hello to all members, passers-by, curious onlookers, and shy lurkers, and welcome to our regular daily check-in post. Just leave a comment below to let us know how your current projects are progressing, or even if they're not.

Checking in is NOT compulsory, check in as often or as seldom as you want, this community isn't about pressure it's about encouragement, motivation, and support. Crafting is meant to be fun, and what's more fun than sharing achievements and seeing the wonderful things everyone else is creating?

There may also occasionally be questions, but again you don't have to answer them, they're just a way of getting to know each other a bit better.

Today's Question: No question today.

If anyone has any questions of their own about the community, or suggestions for tags, questions to be asked on the check-in posts, or if anyone is interested in playing check-in host for a week here on the community, which would entail putting up the daily check-in posts and responding to comments, go to the Questions & Suggestions post and leave a comment.

I now declare this Check-In OPEN!

I had a day full of chores and unpleasant appointments, but I managed to make a cart for Page 3. That is, I cut out two, but only stitched on the one for the book with the deadline.

Are the two books the same?

Basically yes, with the inevitable differences caused by the fact that they are handmade.

It's still progress. And you managed to wade through the unpleasant things. Always a win.

I'm finally making progress on that damn blanket! I got all the pieces together and now I'm securing the weaving parts and adding a border.

I also started yet another project, a granny square scarf with nazar motif granny squares. I'm TA'ing, so I needed something mindless to work on while I'm sitting in lectures.

Stitch club today! I brought along nephew's blanket and got a good number of rows done. Just a few more rows on the initial stripe sequence to go, and then I'll be starting the interlocking section. Fun!

Also knit two rows on the Glacier Sweep shawl this afternoon.

I finished my bralette! I'm so much happier with the length. I ended up using Jenny's strechy bind off which worked well I think. Now the only thing left is to wash & block it although I may wear it first.

Plus I knit a few rows on my sock during a meeting. Yay for autopilot knitting I don't have to look at.

Yesterday (Wednesday) was my birthday and I just got nothing done.

Today I was very sickly and still had to do all the things. Well, I needed to, but I did what I could, then curled up with my knitting and some movies. I completed an unfinished row and started the next one. I should have done a stitch count in-between, and I did try, but by the third failed attempt, I gave up and moved on.

making a pair of mittens with handspun laceweight, some of which is hand dyed. Lost momentum to play with web design for a bit. Pics later!

Here it is! I only dyed the yellow, but I'm on the hunt for red dyestuff (alkanet/ratanjot which I guess is an ayurvedic medicine, so potentially sourceable at indian grocery stores...)
