Hello to all members, passers-by, curious onlookers, and shy lurkers, and welcome to our regular daily check-in post. Just leave a comment below to let us know how your current projects are progressing, or even if they're not.

Checking in is NOT compulsory, check in as often or as seldom as you want, this community isn't about pressure it's about encouragement, motivation, and support. Crafting is meant to be fun, and what's more fun than sharing achievements and seeing the wonderful things everyone else is creating?

There may also occasionally be questions, but again you don't have to answer them, they're just a way of getting to know each other a bit better.

Today's Question: No question today.

If anyone has any questions of their own about the community, or suggestions for tags, questions to be asked on the check-in posts, or if anyone is interested in playing check-in host for a week here on the community, which would entail putting up the daily check-in posts and responding to comments, go to the Questions & Suggestions post and leave a comment.

I now declare this Check-In OPEN!

I've totally lost count.
I'm not surprised. It sounds confusing. But the important thing is that in the end all spiders have all necessary body parts anyway, right? *g*

Maybe some are cave spiders.

The spiders are really coming along

Hurray!

I've done some minor crafting - I hoped to sew on four out of eight trees altogether but only managed two. The bloody trees have five branches each, which means twelve rows of stitches along the outline, through multiple layers of felt and the occasional layer of double-sided tape. My fingers couldn't take more, so I reluctantly stopped after two.

Too bad that the deadline won't be changed because of my poor appendages. Babies come to the world when they want, and the beginning of the school year won't be postponed, either.

It is deeply unfair.

I used the cutting pad(?) to push the needle through, most of the times. Which is good for the fingers but slows down the process considerably. *sigh* Perhaps I'll sew on a few suns and clouds next, for a change, those are easier.

All those layers are definitely hard on the hands. Getting 2 done sounds like great progress under the circumstances!

It would be, if not for those pesky deadlines!

Yes, that's why I'm planning to sew on some clouds next. They're thinner, plus I can make them in front of the telly.

Your poor fingers. Hope that alternating between easier things and the trees helps. Good luck!

First of the uber hot days of Kansas summer (supposed to hit 103F/39C this afternoon). Not quite there yet. I hustled this morning and got cooking done and the dishwasher run while it was still cool.

I am starting a placemat for the dining table out of a forgotten "test" skein of yarn as I am uninterested in my other projects.

It's too hot even for me. I'm good up until about 95 but turned the air conditioner on today.
Thursday, June 29th, 2023 12:40 pm (UTC)
Haha, a lot of British Isles origin in my family. I do like to think they left because they were cold.

80 is my perfect temperature. I'm very comfortable right now (was 80 at dawn and still is due to cloud cover).
Wednesday, June 28th, 2023 09:47 pm (UTC)
By such temperatures I wouldn't be interested in *anything*. You are a tough cookie.
Thursday, June 29th, 2023 12:46 pm (UTC)
I'm very heat resistant and we do have air conditioning. 100 is hot yo me too!

Winter is not my friend.
Thursday, June 29th, 2023 06:49 am (UTC)
That is very hot. I hope you have found a way to stay cool.

Have fun with the placemat :)

The dog appreciates me pouting my iced water in her dish. She doesn't want ice, she wants cold water.

I bet

Since the last time I checked in, I have been knitting on the shawl pretty steadily and I am well passed the halfway point, but it's slow going.

The last week and a half has been chaos and I was going to leave a brief update, but even that felt too long to leave here.

For those interested though, the three baby crows are no longer babies and are flying!

Thanks!

Heee, yes! Though, I don't think the local wildlife is as enamored with them as we are. So far they have managed to flip the neighbors' dog on its back (Jack Russell terrier), harassed a doe, and chased a squirrel up and down a tree and across the little park.
Sunday, July 2nd, 2023 06:29 am (UTC)
They are indeed!
Saturday, July 22nd, 2023 10:06 pm (UTC)
Wonderful!

Congrats on your fledglings!

Hope the second half of the shawl goes well.

Thanks! They are turning into little hellions XD but they're cute :)

Thanks!
