Hello to all members, passers-by, curious onlookers, and shy lurkers, and welcome to our regular daily check-in post. Just leave a comment below to let us know how your current projects are progressing, or even if they're not.

Checking in is NOT compulsory, check in as often or as seldom as you want, this community isn't about pressure it's about encouragement, motivation, and support. Crafting is meant to be fun, and what's more fun than sharing achievements and seeing the wonderful things everyone else is creating?

There may also occasionally be questions, but again you don't have to answer them, they're just a way of getting to know each other a bit better.

Today's Question: At the request of new member [personal profile] cora... In light of new members, where are we all in the world? No need for exact locations, just general country is fine! Leaving this question open for a few more days so anyone who hasn't answered it yet still can.

If anyone has any questions of their own about the community, or suggestions for tags, questions to be asked on the check-in posts, or if anyone is interested in playing check-in host for a week here on the community, which would entail putting up the daily check-in posts and responding to comments, go to the Questions & Suggestions post and leave a comment.

I now declare this Check-In OPEN!

Go you! What will you watch to the spider legs?
Saturday, June 24th, 2023 07:42 pm (UTC)
Ooh so many spider legs to make! Well done on the assembled ones :D
Sunday, June 25th, 2023 01:53 am (UTC)
Gosh that's a lot of spiders!! Your hands must be very tired piecing them all together.

Go go spider legs!

I was sewing like mad all morning because I needed to make some progress. Which I did. All page bases are on the same level of completeness - meaning not at all. The more I do, the more details I realize need to be added, and July is picowrimo time, when I'll make pitiful attempts to get some writing done. That leaves me less than a week from June and August. That is very little time! I'm starting to panic earnestly!

I'm also toying with the idea of making some cherry stone pillows for the charity fair, if I can get enough of the things. One of my (ex-)colleagues promised to save them for me while making preserves - we'll see how many come together. I've got some fabric rests I need to get rid of, and for this task I might even try my luck with Louise the Younger (=baby sewing machine) again. That would be quite the time-saver!

You have so much on your plate! I hope you're able to get everything done.

To be honest, this is my way to remain sane - as much as it is possible. *g*
I'm leading such a cloistered life due to family obligations (not that I'd mind them!) that I need something to break the monotony.

I had to look up PicoWriMo and I think it sounds like a very good idea. I used to really enjoy the frantic pressure of NaNoWriMo but it doesn't really work for me any more… (and I've got a summer gig next month, so I won't have a ton of time to devote to a Camp NaNoWriMo project). Is there a place on Dw for PicoWriMo-ers?

I had no idea you could use cherry stones like a wheat bag, how clever!

I was also surprised when I found the idea on the Internet, but they are very useful indeed.

Just do what you can! get rest. And those cherry pit pillows sound interesting.

They are also very practical. When warmed, they help with rheumatic pain, when chilled with insect bites, inflammations and the likes. After my second Covid jab my arm was hot and swollen, but tucking a chilled cherry pit bag under my t-shirt helped enormously.

The infinity scarf and the scarf for my friend's plushie! I kind of curled up the little one in the second photo for how it'll look around the plushie's neck (which was essentially how I was checking the length while knitting it).

Awww, the little scarf is so cute!

Awww! Plushies need cozy scarves, too!

Such a great colour. :)

GREAT work. That colour is sensational too!

I lost my safety eyes in the move and they're not expensive but I'm annoyed!

Still working on the woven blanket. I got more red yarn so at least I won't have to worry about running out.

It's always so frustrating to lose things, I'm so sorry.
Sunday, June 25th, 2023 11:16 am (UTC)
They'll be somewhere I guess, but until they turn up, really frustrating.

Lots of book work and some cool news on one (the braille version is out now!) Lots of sewing but still got a lot of things to do in the next ten days before the event. Pretty darn excited that my landlord is having a house inspection the day after I get back, when traditionally, the house is full of piles of clothes needing hand washing, cooking gear and camping equipment everywhere. I asked to reschedule, but no word back. sigh.

That is Murphy's Law for you. :(
