Hello to all members, passers-by, curious onlookers, and shy lurkers, and welcome to our regular daily check-in post. Just leave a comment below to let us know how your current projects are progressing, or even if they're not.

Checking in is NOT compulsory, check in as often or as seldom as you want, this community isn't about pressure it's about encouragement, motivation, and support. Crafting is meant to be fun, and what's more fun than sharing achievements and seeing the wonderful things everyone else is creating?

There may also occasionally be questions, but again you don't have to answer them, they're just a way of getting to know each other a bit better.


Today's Question: At the request of new member cora... In light of new members, where are we all in the world? No need for exact locations, just general country is fine! Leaving this question open for a few more days so anyone who hasn't answered it yet still can.

Another 5 spiders assembled.


Also cut the rest of the felt bases for the extra spiders, and attempted to re-size the mole pattern. That didn't work out too well so I'll have to keep trying.

Hmm, what's the mole to spider size ratio now? :D

Moles still WAY bigger, lol! Spider bodies are only about 1.5 inches across.

As I had lots of other things to do, plus it was abysmally hot, very little crafting was done today. I did work a tiny bit on my songbook page bases - about half an hour or so. I hope to do better tomorrow, as the September deadline isn't as distant as I'd like to think. *sigh*

It's almost impossible to do anything in the heat - I got knocked out by heat exhaustion today myself (my own fault, I wasn't hydrating enough). All progress is good, especially now! Well done on the songbook pages :D

I get pretty flattened by the heat, too - the older I get, the more so. And we have fairly hot summers over here.

I'm on the assembly step of this blanket and, yikes, things are not going as planned. I feel really bad, because it's a gift and I do not have time to start over and make something new…

You might need to try again tomorrow. Sometimes you just need to step back when it gets frustrating. That's a really neat blanket though!

I somehow ended up with one too few stripes, so I'm sitting back and working on that - which is pretty easy - while I try to figure out how to salvage the rest of it.

Not really. I could mail it to them after the event but it would be best if I can give it in person (and on time).

Today I finished the first pass of stripping paint off the door trim with the heat gun.

I will probably finish butterfly #2 this evening.

This week I dug through my keepsakes box, and found a doily I had made for my grandparents around 2000. Washed it up and made it part of summer decorating. Past-Me used way, way too much starch.

What happens when you use way way too much starch? What does starch do? is that part of the blocking process?

Yes, for blocking. It just took me ages to soak it out while cleaning. I don't use much starch these days, except when it's something that needs to be stiffened (like ornaments).

Oh, but it is so very beautiful! And what's wrong with too much starch? It gives the doily a real backbone. *g*

I had some money come in sooner than expected so I have ordered the yarn and needles for the beach cover-up! I shall use the shipping time to figure out how to read this chart :D

Also, I realise I forgot to take a picture of the infinity scarf and the plushie's coordinating scarf, but it's too dark to do so now, so I'll try to remember to share that tomorrow.

Sadly some days are like that. Life can get in the way of crafting.

Work has the unpleasant tendency to interfere with more pleasant activities. :(
