Hello to all members, passers-by, curious onlookers, and shy lurkers, and welcome to our regular daily check-in post. Just leave a comment below to let us know how your current projects are progressing, or even if they're not.

Checking in is NOT compulsory, check in as often or as seldom as you want, this community isn't about pressure it's about encouragement, motivation, and support. Crafting is meant to be fun, and what's more fun than sharing achievements and seeing the wonderful things everyone else is creating?

There may also occasionally be questions, but again you don't have to answer them, they're just a way of getting to know each other a bit better.


Today's Question: At the request of new member cora... In light of new members, where are we all in the world? No need for exact locations, just general country is fine! Leaving this question open for a few more days so anyone who hasn't answered it yet still can.

Another 5 spiders constructed, which brings me up to... 55!


Some of you might remember that when I was first cutting bits out and getting ready to make the spiders, I cut too much yarn for the legs, thinking I needed two strands for each pair when I only need one. All that excess cut yarn has been annoying me, I didn't want it going to waste, so I cut out spider bodies to go with the cut yarn. Today I started cutting out the felt bases, but I still have more to cut because I have an additional 170 spider bodies *headdesk*


Also out of curiosity I've been trying to figure out how many different fabrics I've cut for the spiders and came up with a rough estimate of 60, although I suspect it's higher than that. There's going to be plenty of variety anyway. Plain fabric, stripes, checks, spots, abstract designs, floral patterns, and so many colours...

Not yet, but there will be (I hope, if my camera will cooperate) once I have a batch finished. None of them have eyes yet so they're not quite ready for their photoshoot *grins*

I've cut out a tentative first design to my six-pointed-star-turned-into-an-angel Christmas ornament. I'm thinking of using sequins to decorate it; hopefully, it won't turn out too gauche! You never know these things in advance, unfortunately.

I've also found a very nice five-pointed-star-turned-into-Santa motif somewhere on the 'Net, so I might give it a try, too. Eventually. Because I only have three big, detail-heavy projects going on at the moment, which still isn't enough to turn me strong, barking mad, so something more needs to be added. [/sarcasm]

What a lovely butterfly! I love that it even has its antennae. It does look a bit lonely though. Is the second one going to be the same colours?

Yes, same colors. I'm running low on leftover acrylic yarn but still have plenty of this teal.

is this solely decor or can it double as a coaster? Asking because I am guessing (perhaps incorrectly) by the picture the decor stays lying flat on a table (though I suppose it could lie flat on a wall just as well).

Oh, so pretty! Did you follow a pattern or are you freestyling it?

It's a piece from a vintage doily pattern, just made with 2 worsted weight yarn held together and a huge hook.

Unexpectedly got $33 from the Zoom class action lawsuit settlement… and immediately spent it on craft supplies, haha.
