Checking in is NOT compulsory, check in as often or as seldom as you want, this community isn't about pressure it's about encouragement, motivation, and support. Crafting is meant to be fun, and what's more fun than sharing achievements and seeing the wonderful things everyone else is creating?

There may also occasionally be questions, but again you don't have to answer them, they're just a way of getting to know each other a bit better.

This morning I cut out 14 black spiders bodies. Still have the largest piece of fabric so I'm hoping to get maybe another 10...


Then this afternoon I made 24 sets of spider legs. Going to make some more later while I watch TV.

I cast off the infinity scarf! I forgot how unwieldy the last few rows are and it took me longer than a podcast episode to finish, and also I'm always just soooo done by the time I cast off, so as per usual I will be weaving in ends tomorrow because I can't be bothered today. XD

Question regarding the beach cover-up: so, being the person I am, I want it in black, but I also know that knitting something new to me in black is an extra layer of difficulty. Should I commit to hard mode and buy black yarn or buy white and plan to dye it when it's done?

Yay for (almost completely) finishing the scarf!

I have no idea whether cotton yarn takes dye well, but I will say that knitting in black, lace in particular, is a devil of a job even for an experienced knitter and should only be attempted in natural light, because under artificial light you can't see what the hell you're doing.

I've been looking into dyeing something else made of cotton lately and it seems easily doable? Unless there's something inherent to cotton yarn that would make it tricky. But it sounds to me like it should be doable.

In that case I'd say make it in white then dye it. what's the worst that can happen? Zebra stripes?

Yeah I figure if it doesn't work at all I can live with the white, if it just goes kinda grey I can live with grey, and if it goes stripey, that's cool as hell! Win win win :D (Or potentially it just works as intended and that too is a win!)

I made 4 tags for the baby book that Mum declared very pretty (of course Mum is biased, but still). I know it doesn't sound much, but it was detailed work, and I had to make every single detail by hand, meaning that the 4 tags took me about 3 hours or more to make, so I'm content with my progress.

Thanks. It requires a lot of creativity, since I can't get all the ready-made stuff these talented ladies on YouTube seem to have in huge amounts.

Excellent! Delicate work requires time and patience, it shouldn't be rushed.
