Hello to all members, and welcome to our first check-in post. Just leave a comment below to let us know how your current projects are progressing, or even if they're not.

Checking in is NOT compulsory, check in as often or as seldom as you want, this community isn't about pressure it's about encouragement, motivation, and support. Crafting is meant to be fun, and what's more fun than sharing achievements and seeing the wonderful things everyone else is creating?

There may also occasionally be questions, but again you don't have to answer them, they're just a way of getting to know each other a bit better.


So, for our first question: What was the last project you completed?

My two planned Big Projects are in Not Yet land at least until we move house, but I did draw a Leonin Barbarian a couple days ago, just as a warmup.

I can't remember the last project I did. But someone in the neighborhood is supposed to bring me some spoons she's commissioning me to put together in a few windchimes.

That sounds like it'll be an interesting project! I've never made wind chimes but I love hearing them.

The last project I finished was...probably the blessing dress I made for my daughter before she was born. She's almost 18 months old now. >.<

I managed to knit one (1) row on my blanket on the first Saturday in October and haven't knitted since then. I have high hopes for myself in December.

You do have other demands on your time.

You'll get there, even just an occasional row will make it grow, but you're a busy mum with other priorities. You'll get back to your blanket when time allows.

The last thing I made was a dishcloth out of scraps.

I started the first simple hat of three for little nephews. I will take a photo when it's done.

Also how does one make such a dishcloth? I do have a sewing machine (it occurs to me that maybe technically the last crafty thing I did was make masks).

I haven't done any crafting lately, writing has consumed my spare time and though I think about getting out the papercraft and beading boxes they're buried so deep under so much other junk I just look at the whole mess and go "no, I can't do this, not today". Plus my desk has been for the last eight months of lockdown exclusively for work so I don't want to bring in any extra clutter. I already practically live in that room all week and need a break from it. But I do need to make two little beaded bookmarks for my bookclub girls. Maybe next weekend...
It's probably not very crafty, but I did make lemon curd last weekend. I've been having it on crumpets for breakfast and it's sooo yummy!

I miss lemon curd! That used to be one of my favourite things. I should get some! (I'm not a person who cooks anything, lol!)

Yes, it's understandble you don't want to clutter your work space with other things. Working from home has some benefits (very short commute) but means you can't leave work behind at the end of the day =/

Good luck with the beaded bookmarks, they sound intriguing!

Also good luck with the writing. Looks like your massive spook_me fic really helped you catch up on your word count. =D

The last project I completed was the Googly Bugs I linked to in my introduction post. Before that, I cross-stitched a small motif of a barn owl in flight that I intend to use on a birthday card at some point.

I haven't made much crafting progress today, a mere 15 rows of stocking stitch on the front of my blobby white sweater, the one I don't have a pattern for. I was trying to knit while watching the Strictly Come Dancing results show but I had to keep pausing because the blobby bits on the yarn get in the way a bit and then I have to watch what I'm doing to make sure I don't accidentally create an extra stitch by sticking my needle through the loose blob. I've already done that once!

Last project completed: summer dress made and worn in August. Its companion is the one waiting for embroidery. Everything is on hold at the moment while I do stuff like wrapping Christmas presents plus gifts for two family birthdays in the next month. Yesterday I turned the spare bedroom into a war zone looking for some gifts bought months ago, and for wrapping paper and cards. Once I steel myself to tidy up I might unearth other unfinished projects!! But this morning I ran out of bread and had some overripe bananas so you can guess what I did!

I have family birthdays coming up too. It's such a juggling act at this time of year with birthdays and Christmas

I hope you manage to find everything and get it all wrapped. I know where my wrapping paper is, but I lost the bags I bought to store it in. Something always goes missing, it's like some unwritten law.

Hee, I'm very excited to see this up and running! I know it's not the 15th anymore, but I started a new scarf (christmas/snow themed, a very simple stranded colourwork design) late last week so I've just been plugging away at that.

Oh and my last project completed were October's fuzzy fingerless mittens, and they've come together nicely :D

Yay! I wanted to give members time to introduce themselves before the check-ins started, in the hope that there'd be enough members to participate. It seems to have worked so far, there's been much chatting on this post and I just put today's up. This time I left my check-in comment on the correct post. >.<

Oooh, the scarf sounds lovely, and yay for finishing your mittens! Are they for yourself or a gift?
