Check-In Post April 16th 2023
Hello to all members, passers-by, curious onlookers, and shy lurkers, and welcome to our regular daily check-in post. Just leave a comment below to let us know how your current projects are progressing, or even if they're not.
Checking in is NOT compulsory, check in as often or as seldom as you want, this community isn't about pressure it's about encouragement, motivation, and support. Crafting is meant to be fun, and what's more fun than sharing achievements and seeing the wonderful things everyone else is creating?
There may also occasionally be questions, but again you don't have to answer them, they're just a way of getting to know each other a bit better.
Today's Question: No question today.
If anyone has any questions of their own about the community, or suggestions for tags, questions to be asked on the check-in posts, or if anyone is interested in playing check-in host for a week here on the community, which would entail putting up the daily check-in posts and responding to comments, go to the Questions & Suggestions post and leave a comment.
I now declare this Check-In OPEN!

Had to pop around to my neighbours to warn them pigeons are building a nest under the solar panels on their roof. I already knew pigeons are idiots, but that's got to be the dumbest thing ever.

I hope your headache will go away, soon. *hugs*

The bar is set so low for pigeons, yet they always find new ways to limbo under it.

Spent some time picking up in the flowerbeds and planted some extra peas and all of the claytonia (miner's lettuce). What I've put in the yard will hopefully reseed itself every year.

I work in a craft and home furnishings shop and we take turns making displays to decorate the shop/showcase the fabric/yarn/trims we stock and I was asked to make something. I said I would crochet an African flowers motif banner to be hung somewhere and got started on that with a nice 100% chunky cotton that we stock. And then one evening I took it home and... didn't do any work on it for Some Time. My manager asked me on Friday how it was coming along, because she had mentioned it to the Man From [yarn company] and he'd said he was very excited to see it when it was finished and I lied and said it was very nearly done.
On hearing this great news, my manager started to dismantle an existing display on Saturday to make a space for mine, which should probably be done by Tuesday, yes? 💀
I have been working flat out since I got home yesterday evening to make my very naughty fib true. I have so far finished 18/18 flowers (bar the last round—I have one fully finished, which I did so that I could figure out how many I needed to make to get the right finished dimensions) and 0/4 half motifs. I have decided to just do half solid hexagons instead of half African flowers, because a) I think it'll look nicer and more self contained and b) it will let me defer deciding on a final layout for another while. I will probably need to pick up more of the cream colour that I am using for the final rounds, the half hexes and the sewing up, because I only have one ball of each colour currently. I have used the full range of colours minus one grey, which I just couldn't make work—I might do a crab stitch border around the edge in the grey when I'm done? I'm undecided though.
Anyway, here's where I'm at currently:

I also cleaned my room some, which is notable because it involved reorganizing some of my yarn, so there's that!

Reorganising yarn is important.

Yesterday and today, I knitted on the second not-a-baby-blanket. I'm about halfway done with it. Tonight I had to join in a new skein of yarn and I kind of goofed it up, but you can't tell from the front, so yay.
Yesterday, I also did some catching up on my art journaling prompts. I'm still undecided on if it it's actually helping.
And I tested my new label maker. It works pretty much as reviewed; when it works, it's great, but it doesn't work at least half the time, which, honestly, I'm fine with, as it was $1.25. I'm just happy it works at least part of the time. I am going to have to find more tape for it though.
Today, I gave myself a budget to stockpile some yarn while running other errands. I was under budget overall and it fits in the space I made for it. More importantly, I should have things to work on for awhile.
I was also going to finish repairing one of my cat's little houses, but it didn't quite make it today. I did catnip spray the rest of her furniture. It's her 15th birthday and I might have over done it.

Well done on the blanket and prompts!
That sounds frustrating about the label maker, but I'm glad it works some of the time, at least.
Happy birthday to the kitty!
