Hello to all members, passers-by, curious onlookers, and shy lurkers, and welcome to our regular daily check-in post. Just leave a comment below to let us know how your current projects are progressing, or even if they're not.

Checking in is NOT compulsory, check in as often or as seldom as you want, this community isn't about pressure it's about encouragement, motivation, and support. Crafting is meant to be fun, and what's more fun than sharing achievements and seeing the wonderful things everyone else is creating?

There may also occasionally be questions, but again you don't have to answer them, they're just a way of getting to know each other a bit better.

Today's Question: No question today.

If anyone has any questions of their own about the community, or suggestions for tags, questions to be asked on the check-in posts, or if anyone is interested in playing check-in host for a week here on the community, which would entail putting up the daily check-in posts and responding to comments, go to the Questions & Suggestions post and leave a comment.

I now declare this Check-In OPEN!

We have been sick and I'm still dragging a bit. Also it is very cold and snowing.

I decided to try out a winter seed starting idea - you plant in plastic jugs and put them outside, so the plant will start growing when it's warm enough but be protected from the worst by the jug. I planted 5 seed types, I just made a post on my journal if you want the article link.

I am about to start a hat - purple and gray yarn. I haven't had the energy to do anything non-chores for a week, so I decided the seed starting and crochet was a priority.

Sniffled 2 days and then dragging since, really ridiculous!

Oh, dear, I hope you'll have a swift and full recovery!

Sorry to hear that you have been unwell and hope that you start to feel better soon. Well done for trying out the seed idea - look forward to hearing how it has gone and I hope the hat grows well.

Hope you feel better soon.

Good luck with the seeds.

Your hat sounds like it will be pretty.

I never knew there was such a thing. Very cool!

The first real page of Baby Book #2 is finished. The colour scheme didn't quite turn out how I imagined, plus I was disturbed - twice! - at a critical point and thus managed to glue on one of the panels upside down, so the two "wings" of the gate card won't form the pattern I intended to; of course, in such cases the glue hardens immediately... *sigh*

And as if I didn't have enough on my plate already, another massive project is looming on the horizon. I don't want to bore everyone with the details, but you can check them out here if you are interested. I wonder where to take the time for it, as I barely manage the existing ones, but we'll see.

I hope there's not too much velcro involved for this quiet book.

That is the beauty of the thing: no velcro work *at all*!
Thursday, February 16th, 2023 11:28 pm (UTC)
GASP no Velcro?!
Thursday, February 16th, 2023 11:32 pm (UTC)
None at all! *is happy*
Friday, February 17th, 2023 06:25 am (UTC)
Sorry to hear about your difficulties with the being disturbed at just the wrong moment.

It's a lot to take on for your new projects, but hopefully you will enjoy doing them when you do get to them.
Friday, February 17th, 2023 07:38 pm (UTC)
Oh, I always enjoy them - when I just start. It's getting them done what usually proves difficult. *g*

How infuriating!

Good luck with your new project!
Friday, February 17th, 2023 07:39 pm (UTC)
Thanks. It's infuriating indeed, never having any undisturbed time to do my own thing. But it can't be helped. My mother is fairly considerate in this area; the neighbours... not so much.

A bit more painting got done. It really is good to switch off for a few minutes.

Having a bit of undemanding fun is good for the soul. :)

Back to knitting today. I'm not exactly sure how many rows I added to the baby blanket because I fell asleep while knitting, but it looks like 7. (I was also trying to power through the last season of Aggretsuko - it's only about 3 hours in total.)

Luckily, I did not, but I did gain a stitch somehow. At least that is an easy fix and doesn't matter in that pattern.
Monday, February 20th, 2023 08:19 am (UTC)
I'm beginning to learn this
Friday, February 17th, 2023 07:41 pm (UTC)
I regularly fall asleep over the crossword puzzles - with interesting patterns all over the puzzle as a result. *g*
Sunday, February 19th, 2023 08:36 am (UTC)
LOL, I too have done that. It's part of the fun ;)

Working on another small project for in between the other projects. A silk barbette. That's a weird medieval fashion item which goes under the chin and lifts the saggy jowls. It's ready to sew and should take an hour when I get around to it.

It would still be useful in modern times! *g*
Those shears of yours are truly intimidating, though.
