Hello to all members, passers-by, curious onlookers, and shy lurkers, and welcome to our regular daily check-in post. Just leave a comment below to let us know how your current projects are progressing, or even if they're not.
Checking in is NOT compulsory, check in as often or as seldom as you want, this community isn't about pressure it's about encouragement, motivation, and support. Crafting is meant to be fun, and what's more fun than sharing achievements and seeing the wonderful things everyone else is creating?
There may also occasionally be questions, but again you don't have to answer them, they're just a way of getting to know each other a bit better.
Today's Question: No question today.
If anyone has any questions of their own about the community, or suggestions for tags, questions to be asked on the check-in posts, or if anyone is interested in playing check-in host for a week here on the community, which would entail putting up the daily check-in posts and responding to comments, go to the Questions & Suggestions post and leave a comment.
I now declare this Check-In OPEN!

Today, I started the back of my sweater while watching Dancing on Ice. I've ribbed 25 rows so I'm up to the increase row, which I intend to knit in a minute now I've calculated how to space the increases evenly. Tomorrow I can set the pattern and see how things go from there.

So I... rewrote the cable chart >_>;
I really hope that's the only problem since all the errata links go to 404 page not found errors...
It is also possible I decide to do another pattern entirely, but I'll give this one a bit more time.

The great thing is, as long as you stick to to the number of stitches and the shaping for the pattern, you can use any knitting stitch you choose or invent your own. There are loads of different cables. I once used the same basic pattern for four sleeveless Aran bodywarmers, but used different cables for each one. They turned out great.

Working on this while waiting for chili to cook. I laid out half on a pre-existing cardigan and think I need 10 rows of the new blue to finish.

You'll be finished before you know it!

I sorted the threads for my cross-stitch during DoI. No mean feat but theoretically I'm ready to start now.

Yay for sorting threads! What are you planning to stitch?
There were enough add breaks in DoI that you really need something to do while watching. Some pretty impressive skating from most of the last batch, I thought!

On the stitch and stream front:
I finished the scarf! I would have finished a day earlier, but I ran out of yarn 10 rows short of finishing and lost the spare skein. I found it the next day, learned how to join in new yarn, finished the pattern, and added fringe. I still need to weave in the ends.
Of course after that, I immediately started another scarf. It's the last project I have yarn on hand for. It is going to be the same pattern I've been working, but without the neck hugging ribbing in the middle or fringe. The yarn was a thrift store find, a brand I've never heard of, but the color is called "merry magenta." The new scarf has given me the opportunity to try out the knitting needles I got from the Dollar Tree, they're the same size I've been using but twice as long and flimsier. It's been an adjustment. I've also discovered I can knit and read subtitles, though slowly.
For the streaming bit, I finished season 2 of Hilda, watched the Hilda movie, the first 2 episodes of the 2018 limited series The Haunting of Hill House, and season 4 of Aggretsuko.
Other things:
Made 2 recipes off my to try list, though I still need to check in at the cookbook challenge comm
Tried buying yarn locally, but every slot had a "sorry for the inconvenience" tag. I was able to get a pen I wanted to try and some stickers for a journaling project, so the trip wasn't a total loss.
I did some supplies research online so I can budget an online order.
Designed and outfit for my Human Avatar on Subeta.
Poked at a few Snowflake Challenges
Did some business paperwork for my father
Figured out hashtags for my friend's brother's puppet videos
I worked on a knitting project tracking layout in my bullet journal. It has numbered skull and crossbones, but with knitting needles instead of crossbones.
Drew an aquarius art card and a year of the rabbit art card
Discovered my label maker is broken when I went to use it on a journal
For those of you who read through all that, thank you for sticking with my ramble.
