Check-In Post December 31st 2022
Hello to all members, passers-by, curious onlookers, and shy lurkers, and welcome to our regular daily check-in post. Just leave a comment below to let us know how your current projects are progressing, or even if they're not.
Checking in is NOT compulsory, check in as often or as seldom as you want, this community isn't about pressure it's about encouragement, motivation, and support. Crafting is meant to be fun, and what's more fun than sharing achievements and seeing the wonderful things everyone else is creating?
There may also occasionally be questions, but again you don't have to answer them, they're just a way of getting to know each other a bit better.
Today's Question: How has your crafting year been?
If anyone has any questions of their own about the community, or suggestions for tags, questions to be asked on the check-in posts, or if anyone is interested in playing check-in host for a week here on the community, which would entail putting up the daily check-in posts and responding to comments, go to the Questions & Suggestions post and leave a comment.
I now declare this Check-In OPEN!

First of the second pair of rainbow arm warmers is finished, and I've cast on and knitted two rows of its .
My crafting year has been... fair, I guess. Lots of meeces and mini meeces made, several pairs of arm warmers knitted, a bit of cross stitch done, and some preparations made towards the bouncy spiders I still plan on making before next Halloween. Oh, and I knitted some more pumpkins and stitched faces on the ones I'd already made. And some more pendants for next Halloween. I still owe photos of those and the mini meeces. I'll get around to it eventually, I hope.

Both large and small
Lots and lots of arm warmers
Some short, some tall
That's an excellent amount of crafting
I'd say you'd had a ball!

As for today, I worked a bit on the deep sea page: fixed all the background stuff, including the stupid coral, so the submarine now can move up and down. I also finished the seahorse - it is rather cute. Left are a jellyfish, a starfish and a crab, and then I'll be done with this page.

Excellent progress on the deep sea page! It's not going to be finished until next year though... *grins*

This was genuinely my first year of crafting, ever in my life. My aunt had enough patience to spend 15 minutes trying to teach me to knit once when I was 11, and got so frustrated with me not picking it up immediately that she abandoned it, and I figured that meant I just wasn't cut out for crafting. I started trying to teach myself knitting in 2021 but ended up having to start over from scratch this January. It's still not something I have a particular talent for, and I'm not used to not immediately being good at things, honestly, so it's been good for me to have something I have to work hard on. And I have some really lovely scarves! I'm still very much a work in progress but I expect that never goes away, to some degree. Looking forward to improving more next year.

Up to a total of 4 dad hats. I am not sure how many I should make. Maybe I will do 6. I am going to switch back to working on the cardigan tomorrow for a bit.

The early part of the year went well but the latter third not so much - I was ill at the beginning of October and it seemed to throw everything out as I still find myself exhausted of an evening by the time I finish work and just not having the mental wherewithal to work properly at anything. I've also been bothered with a back injury flare up that left me uncomfortable and now seem to have developed SIRVA after getting my booster shots for flu and Covid at the beginning of November (not 100% sure that's what it is but it seems likely. My GP retired so when I saw the new one, the response was give it more time like 1.5 months after receiving a vaccine your arm should still be stiff, painful and while it can move it really hurts when it does - well we're now at the two month mark and my range of movement is more restricted and the pain levels have increased. I'm seeing the physio for my back again in a few days so I will ask their thoughts on the matter. Trying to look at this positively - at least it's a. only one arm - I had a shot in both at the same time and b. it's my left arm and I'm right handed which would probably be worse).
