Hello to all members, passers-by, curious onlookers, and shy lurkers, and welcome to our regular daily check-in post. Just leave a comment below to let us know how your current projects are progressing, or even if they're not.

Checking in is NOT compulsory, check in as often or as seldom as you want, this community isn't about pressure it's about encouragement, motivation, and support. Crafting is meant to be fun, and what's more fun than sharing achievements and seeing the wonderful things everyone else is creating?

There may also occasionally be questions, but again you don't have to answer them, they're just a way of getting to know each other a bit better.

Today's Question: No question today.

If anyone has any questions of their own about the community, or suggestions for tags, questions to be asked on the check-in posts, or if anyone is interested in playing check-in host for a week here on the community, which would entail putting up the daily check-in posts and responding to comments, go to the Questions & Suggestions post and leave a comment.

I now declare this Check-In OPEN!

I've worked on my stupid piece of (felt) coral for two days, but it's still not entirely done. Mostly because I decided to add a second outlining to it - using metallic thread. Now, if you haven't used metallic thread, let me tell you: it is hell. It is thin, it snarls or snaps (or both) by every other stitch, and the results never look quite as good as one hopes they would. Plus, my coral has a total sum of 22 appendages (two main ones and 19 thinner ones), on each of which the thread got caught by every other stitch, too. At least that part is done now, but I still haven't found that piece of sequin ribbon I wanted to add to the main branches. Not the one with the right colour anyway; and I can't add a gold ribbon to a hot pink coral, now can I?

It is the curse of not having proper storage space: you stuff things into whatever free spot you find, and after a while you don't remember where it was. I really need to reorganize my storage cabinets, but there is so much stuff that I keep delaying it. *sigh*

Good luck getting is as you want it :)

That practically never happens, but I'm more or less satisfied with the outcome. That's the most I can ever hope for.

Oh jeez. Good luck. I've not sewn with that thread, but I often hold it with a crochet thread to add sparkle to ornaments.

It's the hope for the sparkly effect that seduces me to using the stuff time and again - even though I've sworn a solemn oath (several times) along the line "never again"!

Sorry to hear it was such a struggle to get the metallic thread to cooperate and hope you find the sequin ribbon soon.

I hope it will resurface eventually. I can still add it to the coral after the page is finished; it's just so that I'd have liked to complete everything in one go. Unreasonable, I know...

Haven't interacted here in a while now, but I actually just finished tying up the threads of a wall-hanging (weaving) I did some months back now. It being time to take down yule-decorations made me want to get it ready to get up on a wall.

I have also brought forth my current weaving projects, and I plan on doing some rounds. I don't really have a clear plan for it, but I am making it up as a go. It's in greys and blues.

It looks good on the wall :)

Thanks!

Glad to hear you got a last step done. I often make things and then don't block them for ages! Good luck with the next project.

This was the case for me this time around, and with another project that is still waiting...Thank you, I did get some done yesterday.

Well done on finishing up the wall hanging and good luck with your current project.

The hook never turned up, I started the cardigan with the next size up. Which is fine.

Dad has been wearing a hat I made him nearly every day in the house. He's realized he doesn't get sinus congestion if he wears the hat?! I'm to make more.

Great to hear that your hat for your Dad was such a success. I was hoping to get my Dad one made, but I've not got to it yet. Hope things continue well with the cardigan

At Christmas I was given a Scratch Art kit (see here. I have spent the last few evenings relaxing with these. They are a good way to switch off from the stress. I've got a laptray so I can sit in comfort and all the mess caught in one place. I've done the two in the second row so far.

Seems interesting - and the effects appear to be great. I've never heard of a craft like that before.

Those are fun! It is definitely messy though.
