Hello to all members, passers-by, curious onlookers, and shy lurkers, and welcome to our regular daily check-in post. Just leave a comment below to let us know how your current projects are progressing, or even if they're not.
Checking in is NOT compulsory, check in as often or as seldom as you want, this community isn't about pressure it's about encouragement, motivation, and support. Crafting is meant to be fun, and what's more fun than sharing achievements and seeing the wonderful things everyone else is creating?
There may also occasionally be questions, but again you don't have to answer them, they're just a way of getting to know each other a bit better.
MERRY CHRISTMAS, HAPPY HOLIDAYS, SEASON'S GREETINGS, AND BEST WISHES TO ALL! THANK YOU FOR MAKING 2022 A GREAT CRAFTING YEAR!
If anyone has any questions of their own about the community, or suggestions for tags, questions to be asked on the check-in posts, or if anyone is interested in playing check-in host for a week here on the community, which would entail putting up the daily check-in posts and responding to comments, go to the Questions & Suggestions post and leave a comment.
I now declare this Check-In OPEN!

I'm mostly taking it easy today. I did weave in ends on 20 of the motifs, but that leaves 40+ to go (I *think* I have woven ends on the small motifs, but I'm not sure.) I keep distracting myself with video games and chatting online with friends.
"Santa Claus" (aka, my mom, lol) brought me $50 worth of gift cards to Joann, a big box craft store here. SCORE! I didn't really need it; I've got plenty of yarn for upcoming Nerdopolis projects, and the one project I had planned for me, I wanted to do in wool, and Joann really doesn't carry wool. But these gift cards were tempting me, and Joann is having one of their Yarnormous sales AND a good online coupon, so...
...I went ahead and ordered enough Caron Simply Soft to complete the Aspen Hooded Sweater, whose pattern was my choice from winning a prize in Nerdopolis. I'm a bit uncertain how I will like a pure acrylic sweater, but then, I've had commercially made 100% acrylic sweaters that I love, so it should be okay? especially since the hoodie is more of a "wear over things" sweater. I got heathered gray yarn for the majority of it, with a skein of Pagoda for accents. With the sale and coupons they were only $2.62 a skein, or ~$20 with tax. Nice, that leaves me about $30 that I will use on a future graduation blanket for second niece.

The hooded sweater looks great! The best part of acrylic yarn is how easily washable it is. Hopefully you'll be okay with it. And it's great that you got such a good deal on the yarn and have money left over for other things.

The colours are a tad more lively in truth, but I couldn't really capture them with the mini, so you'll just take my word for it. ;) That's 6 pages finished, 2 more to do, and then I can put the book together. Should be doable till February. And, as you see, I've put the recently purchased buttons shaped like cats' heads to good use.
Also, the gift card I've made for a friend in a great hurry.
Said friend has moved houses this summer and is now trying to turn the garden around the new house into a mini-orchard. So, this is a gift voucher for two fruit tree seedlings of her choice , for whenever it is the time to plant them. Her new house is much smaller than the old one was, and we didn't want to buy her something useless, so we decided to gift two fruit trees upon her.
