Hello to all members, passers-by, curious onlookers, and shy lurkers, and welcome to our regular daily check-in post. Just leave a comment below to let us know how your current projects are progressing, or even if they're not.

Checking in is NOT compulsory, check in as often or as seldom as you want, this community isn't about pressure it's about encouragement, motivation, and support. Crafting is meant to be fun, and what's more fun than sharing achievements and seeing the wonderful things everyone else is creating?

There may also occasionally be questions, but again you don't have to answer them, they're just a way of getting to know each other a bit better.

Today's Question: No question today.

If anyone has any questions of their own about the community, or suggestions for tags, questions to be asked on the check-in posts, or if anyone is interested in playing check-in host for a week here on the community, which would entail putting up the daily check-in posts and responding to comments, go to the Questions & Suggestions post and leave a comment.

I now declare this Check-In OPEN!

I think we had your rain. It was sunny this morning, but all afternoon we've either had heavy showers or it looked as if we were about to have heavy showers - and half an hour ago we had thunder and lightning!

We got your rain up here XD hooray for more meece!
Wednesday, November 23rd, 2022 08:28 pm (UTC)
Part of your rain crossed the pond and ended up over here - it's been raining for two days!
Congratulations to the meece progress.

Meece assembly does sound easier in the light.
Wednesday, November 23rd, 2022 10:46 pm (UTC)
Gathering the meece rear end is tricky.

Now *that* sounds a bit bizarre. ;))
Wednesday, November 23rd, 2022 10:59 pm (UTC)
I assumed it was something like that, but it does sound hilarious. *g*
Wednesday, November 23rd, 2022 11:16 pm (UTC)
Hardly.*g* Besides, there's nothing wrong with a bit of hilarity, especially by weather like this.

A bit more progress on the scarf! Still have not ordered more yarn for the slippers up next, oops.
Wednesday, November 23rd, 2022 08:27 pm (UTC)
Progress is progress, even if it is small.
Wednesday, November 23rd, 2022 09:02 pm (UTC)
Good! Are you using the same yarn for the slippers?
Wednesday, November 23rd, 2022 09:10 pm (UTC)
No, I'd like something softer than this one I think! If I can get more of the same one I used for an infinity scarf a while back that'd be ideal, but that's been out of stock for months.

I've started on the back cover of Dani's quiet book. The original design idea was just a pocket with a zipper; this is a toy to help develop fine motoric skills, after all. That would have been easy, even though sewing in a zipper is bothersome. But nooo, I just had to get the brilliant idea of having 4 teddy heads above the pocket, with 4 bowties that all could be removed and recombined at will, as they all have different colours. Plus I've had those machine-cut teddy heads and bowties in my stash for years, without knowing what to do with them. I just bought them because they were so darn cute.

Anyway, this seemed to be a good idea and I'm sure it will have a great effect - except for the fact that it will mean a great deal of Velcro work. 32 individual pieces, to be more accurate. My poor fingers! But knowing what a self-punishing fool I am, you can be certain that I will do it, in the end. Oh, and the teddy heads are merely outlines, so I'll have to add 4 pairs of eyes (tiny white felt circles, which I have to cut out by hand as my puncher isn't strong enough for felt, and black beads) to the programme. *groans*

So far, I've sewn in the zipper and am about to stitch the pocket to the page base. The rest (which was supposed to happen in one day originally) will take days. And I mean days, considering that the only time with enough natural light is around 10am in these days. *sigh*

I swear, I'm only laughing a LITTLE at your self-punishment. Good luck!
Wednesday, November 23rd, 2022 10:47 pm (UTC)
Oh, feel free to laugh as much as you want. I know I'm insane. *g*
Wednesday, November 23rd, 2022 09:12 pm (UTC)
I hope all the work will be worth it!
Wednesday, November 23rd, 2022 10:48 pm (UTC)
It better be! It's going to be a painful exercise.
Wednesday, November 23rd, 2022 10:48 pm (UTC)
Thanks, I'll need it. And new fingertips probably too, once I'm done.
Thursday, November 24th, 2022 05:38 am (UTC)
It sounds lovely though punishing!
Thursday, November 24th, 2022 05:09 pm (UTC)
True, on both points. *g*

I finally got the sand dollar doily blocked, and packed up for mailing to the little cousin. I send crocheted items and recipes when they get married.

I went out and planted the final coneflower and milkweed seeds. It felt nice to dig in the dirt. I should have been resting, I'm not looking forward to having to do Thanksgiving tomorrow and wanted to do something relaxing.
Wednesday, November 23rd, 2022 09:13 pm (UTC)
Looks beautiful!
Wednesday, November 23rd, 2022 10:49 pm (UTC)
Oh, but those look amazing!
Thursday, November 24th, 2022 05:38 am (UTC)
Oh, lovely!

Just cutting dust jackets today. I wish I'd remembered that the publishers changed the size of the book (so the dust jackets I printed last time wouldn't fit.) These new ones do fit, bit I would have put the text over a bit on the spine if I'd remembered.

Unfortunately, you can't force them to grow functional brain cells.

Made some progress on my revamped project - i had to bring in some Korean-speaking friends because part of it is a few words in Korean and I had to make sure they were readable words!
