Hello to all members, passers-by, curious onlookers, and shy lurkers, and welcome to our regular daily check-in post. Just leave a comment below to let us know how your current projects are progressing, or even if they're not.
Checking in is NOT compulsory, check in as often or as seldom as you want, this community isn't about pressure it's about encouragement, motivation, and support. Crafting is meant to be fun, and what's more fun than sharing achievements and seeing the wonderful things everyone else is creating?
There may also occasionally be questions, but again you don't have to answer them, they're just a way of getting to know each other a bit better.
Today's Question: No question today.
If anyone has any questions of their own about the community, or suggestions for tags, questions to be asked on the check-in posts, or if anyone is interested in playing check-in host for a week here on the community, which would entail putting up the daily check-in posts and responding to comments, go to the Questions & Suggestions post and leave a comment.
I now declare this Check-In OPEN!

It's bonfire night here in England, so people are letting off noisy fireworks. They did that last night too, so I can look forward to an evening of loud bangs *sigh*
I've knitted another mini meece body and crocheted some ears. Planning to knit a few more while I watch Strictly. I've cast on for the first of the two black and turquoise ones. This one is cast on in black, the other will start turquoise so the stripes are reversed.

So far we've not had too many loud fireworks - I think the weather has dampened things down!

It's dry here (amazingly) and I haven't noticed the fireworks much while watching Strictly. The music and applause drowned a lot of it out.

It finally stopped raining about 9am. I went out and raked the leaves out of the gutter so the street would drain. The dog zoomed around a lot (I'd finally done as I was told and turned off the rain).
I also worked on sanding the new plaster. There is one area that is a lot lumpier than I thought. Just a corner. Tomorrow is over 3 weeks since I did the plaster and it should be safe to paint now.

Happy dog is happy! I'm sure the gutters appreciate you clearing the leaves from them too.
I imagine corners would be the hardest points to apply plaster smoothly. Good luck with the sanding and painting!

I love the pears! Then again, I'm a pear fan.

I think you are right. *g* Although the earlier ones were pretty, too.

It wasn't exactly cheap, but it is so beautiful. Which is probably the reason that I had already bought it last year and happened to forget about it. In any case, I decided to make collage-like Christmas cards. I've been keeping a stack of ready-cut cards someone gifted upon me back in the Stone Age; very thick ones with a glossy surface and a yellow frame on 3 sides. In other words: not very useful. Perfect for collage cards, though, so I dug them out (miraculously remembering where they had been buried) and made 6 cards already. Inscriptions and small embellishments might come yet, but I decided to make the cards themselves first.
The quiet book project (Dani's transportation book) is also making headway. The background for the "Funny train" page is basically done, and I've started on the train itself. I'm still of two minds about the sliding mechanism (especially because of a small mistake I managed to make), but one way or another, the train will move. *adopts determined look*
