Hello to all members, passers-by, curious onlookers, and shy lurkers, and welcome to our regular daily check-in post. Just leave a comment below to let us know how your current projects are progressing, or even if they're not.

Checking in is NOT compulsory, check in as often or as seldom as you want, this community isn't about pressure it's about encouragement, motivation, and support. Crafting is meant to be fun, and what's more fun than sharing achievements and seeing the wonderful things everyone else is creating?

There may also occasionally be questions, but again you don't have to answer them, they're just a way of getting to know each other a bit better.

Today's Question: No question today.

If anyone has any questions of their own about the community, or suggestions for tags, questions to be asked on the check-in posts, or if anyone is interested in playing check-in host for a week here on the community, which would entail putting up the daily check-in posts and responding to comments, go to the Questions & Suggestions post and leave a comment.

I now declare this Check-In OPEN!

Your poor thumb! But it is excellent progress nonetheless.

A couple of minor miracles gave me very little knitting time over our holiday, but I did a few rows on the scarf! (For the curious: our usual 90-minute train was scheduled to take 3 hours over a detour, but a derailment on the detour line put us back on the 90-minute one, and then despite a forecast of rain every single day, we didn't see a drop. It was lovely!)

Miracles can come in handy. *g*

The - temporarily - last page of my Christmas-themed quiet book is finally finished... well, almost. Like the other 4, it isn't edged yet, and there might be some small corrections necessary where the numbers are concerned, but the bulk of the (tedious, boring, detailed) work is done.

This is a seventh quiet book I'm about to make, and never have I hated a pattern as much as this one. It appears to be so easy, doesn't it? Well, appearances might be misleading. All those tiny little parts, those microscopic red dots that I had to stitch on by hand, all the Velcro work - God, I'm glad it's over. I'll set this project aside for a while, since it doesn't have to be finished by this year's Christmas, and will do something different. Usually, my quiet books have 4 leaves, which means 8 pages, 5 of which are finished, save for the edging, so I can afford to take my time figuring out the design for the last 3.

The colours of the picture are almost true; the actual background is the more purplish shade that can be seen on the bottom. The top has got too much light or whatnot; it isn't really red.

It looks amazing - that detail is really impressive!

They turned out a bit uneven because they are so tiny. Beads would have worked better, but there was no way I could put them onto those small toppings.
Wednesday, October 26th, 2022 08:22 pm (UTC)
Oh goodness, and knowing how tiny it all is!

I swore to myself I'd never do anything like that again. Unless I find a design I can't resist trying out, of course. ;)

Not as great as I'd like it to look, but that was the best I could do free hand.

I know this has been a trial for you, but it does look great.

Thank you. :)

Working on the Eastern Dragon today. I had to join the designer's Facebook group because I got confused at the first turn of the body. I rarely do the Book of Faces so this displeased me, but hey, I found my answer in the group (I was doing decreases incorrectly) and now I'm going along without issue. I'm at row/round 77 (there are short rows) of 99. I intend to at least finish the body today, if I can. Should be able to!

I also had to tear my room up a bit looking for more of the yarn I'm using for the body. I found it, thankfully! Didn't want to have to buy more as my finances are tight. Now, if only I could find my bottle of glue. I want to do a paper quilling project for Nerdopolis but the glue is hiding...

Hooray for yarn turning up, and finding the answer to the problem quickly.

Well done on getting a solution and finding the missing yarn. Hope the glue turns up soon.

Today was devoted to gardening again. I moved the columbines to be with the iris. Repotted 3 herbs. Picked up the planters that don't have a perennial in them and other things around the yard.

Then this afternoon I planted tulip, hyacinth, and crocus. There were just a few tulips, but 40 each of the others.
Wednesday, October 26th, 2022 08:43 pm (UTC)
Sounds like some lovely gardening work!
Wednesday, October 26th, 2022 11:13 pm (UTC)
The mixed bag of hyacinth is supposed to include orange. I've never had an orange hyacinth and hope one is in the batch I planted up at the house.

Between the iris and these, the front yard is getting a lot of flowers.
Wednesday, October 26th, 2022 11:35 pm (UTC)
Well done
