Hello to all members, passers-by, curious onlookers, and shy lurkers, and welcome to our regular daily check-in post. Just leave a comment below to let us know how your current projects are progressing, or even if they're not.
Checking in is NOT compulsory, check in as often or as seldom as you want, this community isn't about pressure it's about encouragement, motivation, and support. Crafting is meant to be fun, and what's more fun than sharing achievements and seeing the wonderful things everyone else is creating?
There may also occasionally be questions, but again you don't have to answer them, they're just a way of getting to know each other a bit better.
Many thanks to

If anyone has any questions of their own about the community, or suggestions for tags, questions to be asked on the check-in posts, or if anyone is interested in playing check-in host for a week here on the community, which would entail putting up the daily check-in posts and responding to comments, go to the Questions & Suggestions post and leave a comment.
I now declare this Check-In OPEN!

Late last night I spotted a large spider on the landing, so I caught it in a pot, put the lid on, and left it for release when I could see what I was doing. So this morning I took it out, decided not to release it in the back garden since that's where I've been working, and took it out on the pavement, figuring it would take refuge in some plants that drape over a bit of wall there.
Well, it didn't. Instead, it trundled across the pavement, down the kerb, and started across the road. Then a car started up the road, and I watched as it went right over the spider, missing it. The spider then continued heading for my neighbour's house across the road, just as she came outside leaving the door open. The spider still had a long way to go, but I was worried I was inflicting my problem on someone I like.
Then my neighbour came onto the pavement to ask if something was wrong, I told her, and we both stood there looking on in horror, one on each side of the road as another car came along. As soon as it was passed, we both dashed into the road to check the spider. Again, miraculously unharmed. She's looking at it, going, "Oh my God, it's huge!" and then goes, "Well, my room's really high up, it'll get the children first." After that we returned to our own sides, and she got her car out and drove off. I'm still wondering if the spider made it all the way across or if she drove over it!

As for today, I've made some progress with the snowmen. Not as much as I hoped to make, because the brooms are very fussy work, but at least I've finished one snowman, made 4 more brooms and taped together the snowmen they were destined for, so it's progress anyway.

I've concluded that I knit socks when I need grounding. Being that I eventually wear them on my feet, this seems a good literal and figurative concept.
